It may feel as if 2021 is flying by, as it’s already November, but the holiday season is just starting. From parades and light shows to Dickens characters and turkey trots, there’s something for everyone. If you feel like venturing out, I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities, and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for Nov. 4 - 13.

Friday

Bill Engvall. If you need a sign that it’s time to get out and laugh, this is it. Bill Engvall is bringing his stand-up comedy tour to Marietta. The Grammy-nominated artist is sure to bring the laughs as he performs some of his most well-loved bits. Saturday

Dickens Victorian Village Opening Ceremony. See downtown Cambridge transform into a holiday Dickens displays for all ages. The opening ceremonies will be held in front of the Guernsey County Courthouse and will include speeches from local officials, live musical performances and a visit from Queen Victoria. The evening will conclude with its traditional candle-lighting ceremony. Trolley tours will be available from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $10. Riders can learn about the history of Dickens Victorian Village from historian Rick Booth. Trolley tickets can be purchased at the Dickens Welcome Center on Wheeling Avenue. Wednesday

Neal McCoy. Bust out your dancing boots and make the short trip to Jewett for a party like no other. Neal McCoy is sure to entertain at this dinner show. Nov. 11

Cambridge Veteran’s Day Parade and Ceremony. Celebrate our veterans by checking out the Veteran’s Day Parade and service in Cambridge. Hosted by the Cambridge VFW, the parade is scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m., with a service to follow on the courthouse steps. For more information call 740-439-9180. Wheeling Avenue, Cambridge.
