Pick any one of the events happening in and around the area to keep your week busy. I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities, and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for Sept. 15 to 24.

Friday

Backwoods Fest. Music? Check. Food? Check? Arts and craft? Check. Thornville's Backwoods Fest has you covered if those all the things you're looking for. Three days full of music and events are planned for the festival this year. There are more than 300 vendors scheduled to be there, and some of the best bluegrass music around. The lineup consists of notables like the Chuck Williams Band, Barefoot McCoy, Caney Creek Bluegrass Band, and more. Come hungry because more than 30 food vendors are scheduled to be at the festival. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are $10 per person and can be purchased by visiting the Backwoods Fest website. Saturday

Volley for Vets. Lore City is getting down and dirty for veterans. The Veteran Development Program will be hosting a mud volleyball tournament in Lore City to raise money for their newest projects. Teams of six to eight people can sign up for $200. T-shirts will be provided to participants. The entrance to the mud volleyball area will be from either King or High streets, in the field. Sunday

Post Malone. Just because summer is ending doesn't mean the music has to as well. Bringing his 'Twelve Carat Tour' to Ohio is Post Malone. Head down to the Arean District in Columbus and snag some tickets to watch one of today's hottest acts at Nationwide Arena. Slated to perform with Malone is Roddy Ricch. Barnesville Pumpkin Festival. Nothing screams fall more than pumpkin everything. Barnesville will once again be taken over by sweet pumpkin ice cream, queens from all around, pie-eating contests, and some of the biggest pumpkins you may ever see. The multiple-day event kicks off Wednesday night with the King Pumpkin weigh-in. Growers from all over the area truck in their giant gourds to have them weighed for the competition, which awards the grower $2 per pound for the winner. The Eyes of Freedom Memorial will be at the high school, and a parade is scheduled for 12:45 on Saturday. For a full list of events visit https://www.barnesvillepumpkinfestival.com.
