What's the Buzz: Hunt candy canes, run a festive 5k, or visit Santa's reindeer

Pick any one of the events happening in and around the area to keep your week busy. I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities, and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for Dec. 8 to 17

Friday

Reindeer Games. Head to the Cambridge Performing Arts Center for this live show that includes a cast of 24 local child and adult actors. The show runs at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and at 3 p.m. Sunday. Watch as local adults and children compete as reindeer for a coveted spot pulling Santa's sleigh in this production. Tickets for the show can be purchased online, at Bookology in Cambridge or one hour before the show at the box office and are $10. For more information visit the CPAC Facebook page. Saturday

Inclusive Candy Cane Hunt. Sponsored by the Guernsey County Board of Developmental Disabilities, Santa has hidden candy canes in Cambridge City Park and needs help finding them. Children of all ages and abilities are invited to search the park for sweet treats. Santa Claus will be making a special appearance. Hot cocoa and donut holes will also be provided. Donations of unwrapped presents will also be accepted for the Guernsey County Secret Santa program. The candy cane hunt is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. For more information call 740-439-4451. 12Ks of Christmas. This festive 12K and 5K Race returns to the Great Guernsey Trail. Get your blood pumping with this holiday-themed race. Wear your favorite ugly sweater or come in costume. The race kicks off at 8 a.m. at the Leatherwood Park entrance of the Great Guernsey Trail. Race day registration is $35. Walkers are welcome to participate and finishers' medals will be awarded to all race participants. Matt Frampton. Sometimes all you need to clear your head are some killer tunes. If that’s what you’re looking for, head out to see Matt Frampton perform at The Barn. Frampton has an extremely diverse catalog of music, ranging from covers to originals. The show is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. For more information call 740-455-2276. December 15

Santa's Reindeer in Caldwell. Do you want to keep a little closer to home for the holidays? Head to Caldwell square and give your children the chance to visit with two of Santa's very own reindeer from 5 to 7 p.m. Hot cocoa will also be available for purchase, and, rumor has it, Santa Claus may drop by to check in on his reindeer. December 17

Breakfast with Santa. If you're hungry for some Christmas cheer, head to the Byesville Volunteer Fire Department for Breakfast with Santa. Donations will be accepted and Santa will be available for photo opportunities and to hear Christmas wishes. The event is scheduled to run from 8 to 11 a.m. For more information call 740-685-2222.
