What's the Buzz: Live music abounds at the 2022 Nelsonville Music Festival

Pick any one of the events happening in and around the area to keep your week busy. I’ll be highlighting attractions, activities, and festivals right here, every week. From local music and shows to options for those of you who don’t mind traveling a bit, there’s something for everyone. Be sure to check all activities, as cancellations can occur. The events listed are for August 25 to Sept. 3.

Friday

Brian Sweeney. Make a pit stop in Buffalo for some good tunes and late summer fun. Sit on the deck and enjoy the musical stylings of Brian Sweeney. The show is scheduled to run from 8 to 11 p.m. For more information call 740-685-7400. Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill, 11970 Clay Pike Road, Buffalo.

Saturday

Ethan Timm and Sandy Bugglin. A little weekend jam session is always enjoyable. Head up to Georgetown Vineyards to hear the vocal stylings of Ethan Timm. and Sandy Bugglin. The duo will be performing from noon to 3 p.m., covering classics and original pieces as well. For more information, call 740-435-3222. Georgetown Vineyards, 62920 Georgetown Road, Cambridge.

Sept. 2

The 2022 Nelsonville Music Festival. According to the Facebook event page, attendees can expect "Three days of music, featuring more than 30 bands on multiple stages all weekend long, with camping, kids’ activities, artisan vendors, food and beverage vendors, and more." Some of the acts slated to perform are Lucinda Williams, Town Mountain, Adia Victoria, The Ophelias, and Weedghost. The festival finds itself in a new home this year, at the Snow Fork Event Center. Gates open at 8 a.m. on Friday. Single-day tickets are available starting at $85 or get a weekend pass for $169. For more information visit http://www.nelsonvillefest.org. Sept. 3

Youth Fishing Tournament. Sugartree Marina is home once again to the Youth Fishing Tournament. Trophies will be awarded for first, second, and third place. Participants are asked to bring their own fishing poles. A limited number of loaner fishing poles will be available. Fishing licenses are not required for those 15 years old and younger. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information call 740-439-4009. Sugartree Marina, Road 67 in Salt Fork State Park, 14755 Cadiz Road, Lore City.

As highlighted in last week's column:

  • Saturday. Jonathan Bye Days. Stroll through the shaded setting that is Byesville Park and celebrate the founder of Byesville, Jonathan Bye. A full day of activities is scheduled, including live music from E. Wade Acoustic, Michael Mack, and Rattlebox. Kids can compete in a bicycle race, bounce in the bounce house, or grab a snack from the various food vendors. Adults can play bingo with the fire department, play in the Battle of the Boards cornhole tournament or show off their skills in the 'Byesville's Got Talent' show. This is a family-friendly event that is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. For more information call 740-685-0800. Meek Avenue, Byesville.
