What's closed for the Independence Day holiday on Monday, the Fourth of July?

Independence Day is Monday. Because of the Fourth of July holiday:

• Post offices will be closed Monday, and there will be no regular mail delivery.

• Federal, state, county, city and other local government offices will be closed Monday.

• Columbus City Schools and other school districts will be closed.

• Ohio State University, Columbus State Community College and other institutions of higher education will be closed.

• All Columbus Metropolitan Library branches will close at 6 p.m. Friday for Red White & Boom, and will also be closed Sunday and Monday.

• Parking on City of Columbus streets with kiosks, app payment notice or remaining meters will be free, but parking restrictions at some locations may be enforced, including but not limited to zones marked for valets, taxis, loading, handicapped-only and residential parking permits. Motorists are advised to read signs.

• There will be no trash collection in Columbus on Monday. For residents assigned a trash color code, your collection schedule will rotate one weekday forward until the next observed holiday, Labor Day. For those without a color-code designation, if your collection day falls on Monday, your collection will be delayed one day. Rumpke biweekly recycling and yard-waste collections on Monday will be delayed one day with Friday collection on Saturday.

• Central Ohio Transit Authority service will have extended local service and Express Service from five Park & Ride locations on Friday, but riders should also expect multiple reroutes and delays. (For more information, go to cota.com.)  COTA will operate on a holiday, or Sunday service schedule on Monday. COTA's Downtown Customer Experience Center and all administrative offices will be closed Monday. The authority's Customer Care Call Center at (614) 228-1776 will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday
