What's closed on the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday?

Monday is the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday. Because of the holiday:

• Federal, state, county and city offices will be closed.

• Post offices will be closed, and there will be no regular mail delivery.

Is Columbus parking free on MLK Day?

Street parking in Columbus in areas covered by kiosks, app or metered parking will be free, but parking restrictions at some locations will be enforced, such as morning and evening rush hour bans, zones marked for valets, taxis, loading, handicapped-only and residential parking permit areas. Motorists are advised to read street signs.

Is trash collected?

There will be no trash collection Monday in Columbus.

The trash-color collection schedule will rotate forward one weekday until the next holiday, which will be Presidents Day, Feb, 20. Those not assigned a color-coded collection day will have their regular collection delayed by one day during the week of the holiday, with Friday collection occurring on Saturday.

Rumpke biweekly curbside recycling and yard-waste collection in Columbus also will not occur Monday to coordinate with the city and will be delayed by one day the week of the holiday, with Friday's collection on Saturday.

Are buses running? Is the library open?

Central Ohio Transit Authority buses will operate on a regular weekday schedule.

All Columbus Metropolitan Library branches will be closed Sunday and Monday.

Are schools in session on MLK Day?

Columbus City Schools and most other local school districts will be closed.

Ohio State University and Columbus State Community College will be closed.
