Denyce Graves to perform at Austin Peay's Mabry Concert Hall

Mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves will present “A Celebration of America in Song” at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 30, in Mabry Concert Hall at Austin Peay State University, 601 College St. Ticket discounts are available for educators, military and seniors. Austin Peay students are admitted to Clarksville Community concerts free with ID. Other college students pay only $5.

Celebrating Our Korean Culture exhibit

Feb. 1 marks the Lunar New Year, one of the most important traditional Korean holidays. Share in the celebrations and view cultural items like clothing, instruments and more at the Jostens Gallery at the Customs House Museum and Cultural Center, 200 S. 2nd St., Clarksville through Feb. 27.

'The Agitators' showing at Roxy Regional Theatre

Sara Anderson and Marcus Hayes star as Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass in "The Agitators" at the Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin St., Clarksville, through Feb. 1. Great allies and, at times, great adversaries, Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass fought for the rights of others, developing a friendship that lasted nearly half a century. Goodwill virtual employability skills training

Goodwill is hosting a virtual training session that will teach residents employability skills such as resume writing, applying for work, interviewing for work, preparing for success and how to work effectively from home. Pitch Masters Tennessee Panel

From noon-4 p.m. on Jan. 29, join panelists Tom Armenti and Kevin Gabauer, Fat Shack; Lydia Evans, Swag Essentials; Judy Scott and Nita Gassen, Better Beder; Jason McKenney, Truffle Shuffle; and Jim Tselikis, Cousins Main Lobster and learn how to pitch your business successfully. This event will be held at the Austin Peay Dunn Center, 320 Drane St. in Clarksville.

Montgomery County Republican Women's Club meeting

The club will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 11:30 a.m. at Tanglewood House, 1601 Madison St., Clarksville. Guest Speaker will be longtime city supporter and Real Estate Agent Mark Holleman. Jeff and Kimberly Bornstein's Magic of the Mind show

Magic of the Mind entertains guests with magic and mind-reading. Tickets are $25 and go on sale Feb. 1. For two nights only, the show will be held in the Customs House Museum & Cultural Center’s Turner Auditorium, 200 S. 2nd St. in Downtown Clarksville. Jeff Bornstein is frequently featured at House of Cards in Nashville and the couple has been featured on the television series Masters of Illusion.

Parking Commission hosting Town Hall meeting to provide updates

The Clarksville Parking Commission is hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 5:30 p.m. at the Roxy Regional Theatre, 100 Franklin St. City Mayor Joe Pitts and Parking Manager Michael Palmore will discuss mixed-use lots and garages, safety, rates and future parking projects, along with a list of other topics. The meeting will also allow Clarksville community members to have an open, constructive dialogue about suggestions or concerns regarding Downtown parking.

First Thursday Art Walk

The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center, 200 S. 2nd St., will offer free admission during First Thursday Art Walk Clarksville from 5-8 p.m. on Feb. 3 and 5. The venue is celebrating Black History Month with Black artists and vendors.

Rising Voices 2: The Bennett Prize for Women Figurative Realist Painters

This exhibition, showing Feb. 3-April 24 at the Crouch & Bruner galleries inside Customs House, displays a contemporary view to a timeless subject. The $50,000 Bennett Prize is awarded biennially to a woman fine art painter whose principal artistic focus is figurative painting in a primarily realistic style. Rising Voices 2 is comprised of paintings by the ten 2021 Bennett Prize finalists, including Prize winner Ayana Ross.

Goodwill virtual financial literacy training

Learn how to gain control of your personal finances. In this training, participants will learn about creating a budget, setting smart goals, determining needs vs. wants and many other useful skills. The training will take place Feb. 8 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; March 8 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; April 12 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; May 10 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; and June 14 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. To register for this two day virtual training session, visit www.giveit2goodwill.org/financial-literacy or calling (615) 742-4151. Mid-Cumberland Human Resource Agency’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman program needs volunteers

The Ombudsman program provides advocacy for residents in long-term care facilities, which includes nursing homes, assisted living facilities and homes for the aged. Trained, certified volunteers pay regular visits to these facilities, where they spend time with residents, monitor conditions, investigate complaints, educate regarding abuse and neglect and protect residents’ rights. The program offers mediation, complaint resolution and public education for residents and their families. Volunteer applicants must pass a background check and attend 16 hours of classroom training. Romantic Melodies presented by Gateway Chamber Orchestra

GCO is offering a selection of Romantic Melodies to celebrate Valentine's Day. The performance will take place at 4 p.m. on Feb. 13 at the George & Sharon Mabry Concert Hall in Clarksville. Goodwill office productivity skills training

Training will take place on Feb. 16 at 9 a.m. at 2001 Needmore Rd. Participants will take a three-day introduction to Microsoft Office suite and Google suite, you’ll learn to use Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs & Google Sheets. The course also includes a review of Internet safety, website safety and Internet search.

Tennessee Promise FAFSA deadline extended

The Tennessee Higher Education Commission has extended the Tennessee Promise Scholarship FAFSA deadline and the priority FAFSA deadline to the Tennessee Student Assistance Award to March 1, 2022. This deadline extension will be in effect for new and continuing students.

Caleb Cares Swim League kicks off at New Providence pool

Clarksville Parks & Recreation will host the Caleb Cares Swim League at New Providence Pool beginning March 19, 2022, with a swim assessment. All skill levels are accepted, but you must be able to swim at least 25 meters without assistance. There will be three regular swim meets and one champions swim meet that will be held at the New Providence Pool.

The Big Payback's 9th annual online giving day

The 24 hours of giving, known to many as The Big Payback, is a full day to celebrate the work that nonprofits do in Middle Tennessee every day. This year, The Big Payback will kick off at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4, through 6 p.m. Thursday, May 5. Registration for organizations interested in participating in this year’s giving day is now open at www.TheBigPayback.org. The deadline to register is March 31.
