What's all the construction at the intersection of Military Trail and Woolbright near Boynton?

GOLF — Development is booming near the intersection of Woolbright Road and Military Trail in the tiny Village of Golf.

The village borders Boynton Beach to the west, and up until recently, it only had one shopping center: Village Square at Golf. That changed when Publix closed its doors and opened a store across the street in late 2021 at a new development called The Stables.

The former Publix building is likely to reopen as a different grocery store before the year's end, and a former 7-Eleven at the corner of Village Square — left vacant after the gas station moved across the street — will gain new life in the coming months.

Across the street from Village Square, more than a dozen shops have joined the new Publix and 7-Eleven at The Stables and a neighboring development, Commerce Park, is taking shape with the completion of several showroom warehouses and the opening of new businesses.

Here are the latest updates on the bustling intersection in Golf:

Kosher market on track to open in the old Publix at Village Square

The former Publix at Village Square sat vacant on a recent August afternoon, dust collecting on the checkout counters and wires hanging from the ceilings.

That will soon change with the opening of KC Market, a kosher grocery store that offers a full deli, bakery and sushi selections along with catering, fresh produce and imported foods. The original market, also known as Kosher Central, has long been open in Hollywood, and the new location at Village Square will be about four times bigger.

Along with its usual offerings, the new market will also feature a pharmacy, a pizza section and two restaurants with their own entrances. One restaurant will offer foods made from dairy and the other, a deli-style restaurant, will offer foods that incorporate meat — keeping the two separate and complying with kosher rules.

The market's owner, Joseph Gopin, said he hopes to open the Village Square location by October or November. KC Market will join about 40 other businesses that still operate in the shopping center despite the closing of Publix, their anchor store.

"We get customers traveling from Boynton and Boca to our Hollywood market, so we're going to have a more convenient location for them," he said.

What will take the place of the old 7-Eleven?

The former 7-Eleven at the corner of Woolbright Road and Military Trail will soon reopen as a Mobil-branded gas station with a convenience store that features healthy snacks, including non-GMO and vegan foods.

Meanwhile, the former 7-Eleven building at the northeast corner of Woolbright Road and Military Trail will soon reopen as a new, reimagined gas station.

Adam Musa, a 23-year-old entrepreneur and the president of America Petroleum LLC, said he plans to launch a Mobil-branded gas station and a convenience store on that corner. He anticipates opening by September.

And though the new 7-Eleven gas station is right across the street at The Stables shopping center, his business will offer something not typically found at other gas stations: healthy snacks, including vegan and non-GMO products.

"Village of Golf Manager Christine Thrower-Skinner and her team have been very attentive and resourceful in working with all parties involved to offer commuters a fresh offering at that corner," Musa said.

TOO MANY GROCERY STORES? West of Boynton, why a boom of 12 supermarkets formed so quickly and is it too much?

PUBLIX MURALS: As Publix redesigns Florida stores, its historic tile murals are becoming endangered

Steve Mackey, a partner at Mack Industrial, said another showroom warehouse is now under construction next to the nearby Starbucks and MD Now.

And next year, he said, the company plans to build two more single-user warehouses with storage yards.
