A new, five story Holiday Inn Express is being built along Davis Highway and Interstate 10.

The latest facility is expected to be 118,370 square feet and hold 110 units, according to development orders filed with the county.

Here's what we know about the new hotel development:

What's Holiday Inn Express?

Holiday Inn Express prides itself on being designed for the "smart travelers." The staff at each of their 3,500+ facilities focuses on providing a clean, consistent and comfortable stay for guests, according to the company.

The worldwide chain currently has seven other locations throughout Pensacola.

The new development at 7827 N. Davis Highway is being built in a lot adjacent to another Holiday Inn at 7813 N. Davis Highway, which may speak to the level of demand within the area for hotel stays. The convenience that a location between UWF and Interstate 10 possesses may also play a role in the expected traffic.

Who's building it?

Representatives with Harvill Inc., a commercial construction and hospitality company that prides itself on customer consistency, have confirmed that they are the group building the latest Holiday Inn Express. The property itself is owned by Yog Hospitality, a local LLC based out of Gulf Breeze.

This will be the fourth hotel built by Harvill, Inc. in the area. The other three include a Home2 Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, and a Holiday Inn Express in Gulf Breeze.

When can it be expected?

No timetable has been provided yet on when we can expect the new hotel to begin operations.

The site only recently finished clearing trees for construction, so it may be a few more months before specific dates can be shared.

What else is in the area?

Some businesses surrounding the latest development include a U-Haul moving and storage facility, the aforementioned Holiday Inn location and Home2 Suites hotel towards the onramp of interstate 10. Across the street from these businesses there are two additional hotels, Candlewood Suites and La Quinta Inn.

Food options include a nearby McDonald's and Lupita's Mexican Fast Food located in the BP gas station. The plaza across North Davis Highway feature a La Hacienda, a Taco Bell and Denny's, among other offerings.
