Project: A new office space for Cascade Kids Dental and Thornton Orthodontics

Location: 2991 Hilyard St., Eugene

The corner of E. 30th Avenue and Hilyard Street where the former Key Bank building stood is welcoming new tenants in a newly constructed building.

The space will house office locations for Cascade Kids Dental and Thornton Orthodontics. The two-story building will include separate entrances and offices for each service provider.

Dr. Mark Stapleton of Cascade Kids Dental opened his practice in 2007. He has recently rebranded his services from Dr. Mark Stapleton Dentistry to Cascade Kids Dental. Along with running his own pediatric dentistry services, Stapleton is the dental director at Community Health Centers of Lane County and is a pediatric dentist at the Lane County Children’s Dental Clinic.

The new office space for Cascade Kids Dental will be mountain themed to mirror the renaming of Stapleton’s practice. The design will have a family focus with elements like kid-sized doors, sensory toys, a climbing boulder and low sinks for children to access easily for hand washing and teeth brushing.

Dr. Benjamin Thornton of Thornton Orthodontics has been practicing orthodontics since 2003 and currently has two offices open — one in Eugene and one in Creswell. His professional affiliations include the Oregon Dental Association, Lane County Dental Society, diplomate work on the American Board of Orthodontics and more.

Office manager Wendy McClenahan said the new Thornton Orthodontics space will have a classic style to accommodate patients of all ages as well as a game room for the bulk of their student-aged patients.

“We think it’s better than going to the dentist — everybody here is here by choice, not because they’re in pain or have to have something done,” McClenahan said.

Cascade Kids Dental aims to move into the new location this month while Thornton Orthodontics will utilize the time they are usually closed to patients between Christmas and New Years to make its move, avoiding service disruptions.

Building size: Two-story building with a total space of 6,713 square feet.
