9th annual Lincoln Highway SupperMarket returns

The Lincoln Highway Experience’s annual Lincoln Highway SupperMarket is returning to the Route 30-based museum this summer for its ninth year. The popular weekly open-air food festival will take place on 13 Wednesdays from 5–8 p.m. from June 1 through Aug. 24, weather permitting, at the Lincoln Highway Experience’s grounds at 3435 Route 30 East in Latrobe. Guests can enjoy breezy summer evenings on the spacious lawn with great food from local chefs, BYOB, and live music.

The cost is charged per car for admission. Additional cost for food purchased from chefs’ booths. The 2022 participating local chefs are Aroma Italiano, Chef Dato’s Table, Connections Café, Grateful Smoke BBQ, and Simply Good. Tables are limited, so it is suggested that attendees also bring chairs or blankets, especially if you will be arriving late. No outside food or pets are permitted.

Entertainment schedule includes: June 1 — DejaVu; June 8 — Tim Roberts and Stacey Meyers; June 15 — The Hamilton Ave. Band; June 22 — Three Good Reasons; June 29 — Gary Stewart. Pittsburgh Zoo Safari

Somerset County's 14th annual Pittsburgh Zoo Safari is from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 12. Wristbands available starting June 1, while supplies last at: Somerset County Chamber of Commerce, 601 N. CACCC Exhibition: God’s Glory, God Inspired, the Art of Rebecca Pender

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County's first exhibition of artist Rebecca Pender in God’s Glory, God Inspired, featuring acrylic and mixed media acrylic paintings in the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Center gallery and showcase a wide variety of Rebecca’s artistic works. An opening receptionfor this exhibit will be from 1-3 p.m. June 4 , with an Artist Talk/Q&A at 2 p.m. Additionally, an Artist Lecture will be live on social media at 1 p.m. June 11. caccc.org.

Summer Block PAWty

The Humane Society of Cambria County Summer Block PAWty fundraiser is from 5-8 p.m. June 11, at the shelter's location, 743 Galleria Drive Extension, Johnstown. Guests can choose from a selection of beer, seltzers and non-alcoholic drinks as well as a few food truck options. There will be a cornhole tournament. Rodney 'Rodster' Howsare cornhole tourney

The second Rodney "Rodster" Howsare Memorial Cornhole Tournament is June 11, at Brooklyn Hunting Camp. Sign up between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Blind draw. Tournament starts at 4 p.m. Entry fee includes food. Proceeds benefit the Rodney's Brotherly Love Foundation, helping people throughout Somerset County.

Berlin Craft and Vendors Fair

The Berlin Volunteer Fire Department annual Craft and Vendors Fair is 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 11, at the Berlin Block Party lot.

Blood drive

Free Electronics Recycling Event

A service project of the Friends of the Meyersdale Public Library, this free electronics recycling event by JVS Environmental is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 11, in the Meyersdale Area Elementary School parking lot. They will accept free of charge, computer equipment, video game consoles and TVs if intact. There is a $50 charge to take TV sets with broken glass. They will accept for a fee, florescent bulbs and car batteries, dehumidifiers, refrigerators and air conditioners. No vacuum cleaners or small appliances.

Open house and 50th anniversary kick-off

Touchstone Center For Craft’s 50th Anniversary Celebration kicks off at its annual open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 11, at 1049 Wharton Furnace Road, Farmington, touchstonecrafts.org. This free, family-friendly event will showcase the 150-acre campus, studios, galleries, as well as many local and regional artists and partner organizations. Visitors can: enjoy live music, food trucks and campus and studio tours; participate in kid-friendly craft activities, face painting, puppet parades and drum circles; view studio demonstrations by local and regional artists; visit two brand new gallery exhibitions; shop our gallery store and artist pop-up shops featuring handmade items from local artisans; and meet representatives from partner organizations and learn about things to do in the Laurel Highlands.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase. The event is scheduled rain or shine, with many of the activities indoors. Because of limited parking on Touchstone’s campus, visitors should park at Christian W. Klay Winery, 412 Fayette Springs Road, and take the free convenient shuttle buses to campus. Windber Miners' Memorial Day Weekend

Live music, street dances, food vendors and activities every day during the Windber Miners' Memorial Day Weekend, June 16-19. Events include Father's Day Car Show and Cruise-In noon-5 p.m. June 19, in Windber. There will be 26 fun awards presented at 4 p.m. Judging by racing stars from the local speedways. Dash plaques to the first 200 entrants. Huge basket party, duck race in Paint Creek, games, food and drink.

“You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown”

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County musical theatre “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown.” The production will include high energy dancing numbers and audience interaction. The show will be the debut production in the Community Arts Center’s M. Josephine Paul Family Museum, which doubles as a black box theatre, 1217 Menoher Boulevard, in the Westmont section of Johnstown. Performance dates: June 17, June 18, June 24 and June 25, 7 p.m.; June 19, June 26 2 p.m. (matinee) Friday. Truck & Tractor Pull

The Western Maryland Championship Truck & Tractor Pull is 6 p.m. June 18, at the Garrett County Fairgrounds. Classes are light limited; pro farm; 2-wheel drive trucks; street diesel pickups; and mod turbo tractors. Proceeds go to Grantsville Fire Department.

2022 Coffee House Series

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County 7th season of the Coffee House Series of indoor/outdoor musical events taking place outdoors on the Center’s Amphitheatre. During inclement weather, the Coffee House will move from the Amphitheatre to indoors in the main space gallery of the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Center building. Coffee Houses are offered with free admission. The Coffee House Series will be providing coffees, teas, and baked goods for purchase during the event. All Coffee Houses start at 7 p.m. and run roughly until 8:30 p.m. June 23 — Tim Dabbs. He has a well-developed fingerstyle guitar technique, a product of more than 40 years of teaching and performing acoustic music. His melodic playing style compliments his tenor voice, and is well suited to the topical songs as well as the tender ballads that make up his repertoire.

Nautical Nights

5K Run/Walk for ACS

A 5K Run/Walk with all proceeds benefiting the American Cancer Society is June 25, at the Somerset Athletic Field. Many activities will be going on at the Relay For Life Community event, including: Basket Alley, concession, live auction, entertainment, survivor activities, dunk tank, food trucks, DJ Music Express, luminaria ceremony and more. Park at Somerset Area High School. Pre-registered check In begins at 4 p.m. Day of event registration available (shirt NOT guaranteed). 5K times: Runners begin at 5 p.m. Walkers begin at 5:02 p.m. Rain or shine. Start/finish is at the Somerset Athletic Field Race course. The course used will be the same as the former Daily American 5K route. Award for Top 3 overall finishers male and female in run and walk. The Somerset County Military Family Support Group is presenting a Blue Star Salute and Military Family Day from 12-4 p.m. June 25, at The Puddle, 1337 Husband Road, Somerset. Aladdin auditions

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County’s Log Art Theatre Academy auditions for Aladdin (a play) at 6 p.m. July 27 or July 28.Children and youth ages 9 through 17 years are eligible to audition. Rehearsals will take place during August and September, culminating in a three-day stage production, at 7 p.m. Sept. 16, and at 2 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18. TheAladdinproduction will include a free Log Art Theatre Academy Performance Workshop that focuses on basic theatre concepts, tools and techniques. Information regarding registration and auditions can be found on the Community Arts Center’s website http://caccc.org and all social media platforms. Tryouts will include a monologue/reading audition. No singing or dancing required, and no preparation required; all materials will be provided for those auditioning at the auditions.
