Grammy-nominated Cole Swindell recently released his 12th career single, “Never Say Never” (with Lainey Wilson). The Georgia native has toured with some of country music's most acclaimed entertainers, including Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean and Thomas Rhett. He officially became a headliner on his own with his Reason to Drink Tour in 2018 and has since continued to hit major venues across the nation.

Ashley Cooke is an up-and-coming country artist who is bringing authentic and honest storytelling to her music. Most recently, Cooke released “Under” which is the second single from her forthcoming project produced by award-winner Jimmy Robbins. Dylan Marlowe has become the newest rising star in Nashville’s country music scene. The former youth baseball player has found his sweet spot in the format by blending traditional themes and sensibilities with a subtle touch of contemporary production to create a sound that hits a home run with longtime country fans, as well as newer listeners.

Drone Camps

Laurel Highlands Education and Robotic's third annual Drone Camps provide two hours of drone activities geared for both beginners and experienced flyers. As a bonus, students will hear about LHER's robotics programs and have the opportunity to drive robots built by local high school students. Camps are at 150 Old Ridge Road, Rear Lower Level, Hollsopple. Drone Boot Camp is 2-4 p.m. June 24, and 6-8 p.m. June 27. Drone Camps for ages 8 and up, provide two hours of drone activities geared for both beginners and experienced flyers.

21st Country Gardens Tour

The Mountain Laurel Garden Club will host its 21st Country Gardens Tour 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 25, (rain or shine, no pets). The tour features four residential gardens in southern Garrett County, Maryland, three of which are in the Deep Creek Lake area. Movies Night

Movies night is back during the summer at Keystone State Park. The park will be playing a variety of movies at the beach house. The movies will be shown on a projector screen outside on the lawn. So grab your blankets, chairs and make sure you dress for the weather. The times for the movies are at 8:30 p.m., depending on when it gets dark. Movies will not be shown in inclement weather. Pius Spring Woman’s Club

The Pius Spring Woman’s Club met June 6 at Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin. The club’s next fundraiser will be a Pie Sale and Lottery Flower Raffle during the “Christmas in July” event in Berlin on July 23. Hostesses for the evening were Jane Scurfield and Patty Ohler. The program was an informative presentation by Maria Craig and Sue Walker, owners of Cup of Soul Café. Some of their pastries and beverages were served during the social time, prior to the business meeting.

Relay For Life of Somerset

Relay For Life is a community block party style event to raise funds to fight cancer. Running Over Cancer 5K

A 5K Run/Walk June 25, at the Somerset Athletic Field, proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society in conjunction with the Relay For Life of Somerset. Pre-registered and day of event check in begins at 4 p.m. Start/finish at the Somerset Athletic Field. The course route will be the same as the former Daily American 5K. Award for top three finishers in run and walk categories. Top finisher medal for each age group, run and walk, plus bonus prizes for each age group. Jackie’s Garden Works Rooftop Concert Series

Jackie’s Garden Works Concert Series invites music lovers of all ages to enjoy live performances, food and drinks in one of Johnstown's unique venues. Blue Star Salute

The Somerset County Military Family Support Group (SCMFSG) is hosting a Blue Star Salute and Military Family Day event from 12-4 p.m. June 25, at The Puddle, 1337 Husband Road, Somerset. This event's main feature will be a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. to recognize eligible Blue Star families from Somerset County with Blue Star banners. The event will also offer family friendly entertainment, kids activities, a chicken barbecue fundraiser, and networking with organizations that serve service members, families, and veterans in our county. They are still accepting organizations to participate as vendors as well as Blue Star family members to receive banners. Allegheny Portage Railroad NHS

Costumed rangers conduct a variety of daily program offerings that vary from day to day at Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, 10 miles west of Altoona, off the Gallitzin exit of U.S. Highway 22. 9th annual Lincoln Highway SupperMarket

The Lincoln Highway Experience’s annual Lincoln Highway SupperMarket is returning to the Route 30-based museum this summer for its ninth year. The popular weekly open-air food festival will take place on 13 Wednesdays from June 1-Aug. 24, 5 – 8 p.m., weather permitting, at the Lincoln Highway Experience’s grounds at 3435 Route 30 East in Latrobe. Guests can enjoy breezy summer evenings on the spacious lawn with great food from local chefs, BYOB, and live music. There is a charge per car for admission. Additional cost for food purchased from chefs’ booths. Tables are limited, so it is suggested that attendees also bring chairs or blankets, especially if you will be arriving late. Concerts-on-the-Green Summer Concert Series

The 42nd annual free summer concert series, Concerts-on-the-Green, is underway at the Community Arts Center of Cambria County. The concerts are held on the grounds at 7 p.m. and run roughly to 8 p.m. every Wednesday, beginning June 23 through Aug. 18. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to listen to these concerts which take place on the new Amphitheatre in front of the M. Josephine Paul Family Museum. June 29: Civic Band; July 6: Civic Band; July 13: Civic Band.

Johnstown Flood National Memorial

Join a Park Ranger for a guided walk through the ruins of the South Fork Dam, daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., now through Sept. 30. This interpretive walk will last approximately 45 minutes and will take participants to the bottom of the dam, through the breach and back out on the other side. The meeting location is on the South Abutment. Participants will learn about May 31, 1889, the hillside across from the dam, and much more. The last portion of the walk contains a steep section with stairs. The walk is approximately 1/3 mile. Participants are encouraged to wear proper shoes and bring water. Tales of the Great Flood ranger talks will take place in the Visitor Center Theater or outside at the Lake View House, following showings of the park film, “Black Friday.” These talks will be approximately 15-minutes in length. The program is offered Fridays through Mondays now through Sept. 26, at 9:55 a.m., 10:55 a.m., 11:55 a.m., 1:55 p.m., 2:55 p.m., and 3:55 p.m. Inquire at the desk on the day of your visit for program offerings and location. The talks are staff dependent. No reservations are required for this free program.

Trivia Night

Trivia Night at Meyersdale Post 112 American Legion, 413 Grant St., Meyersdale, is the last Wednesday of every month for four rounds of competitive trivia, starting at 6:30 p.m. June 29. Each night will be a different theme. The first Trivia Night will be general trivia. Teams welcomed with up to six individuals per team. No entry fee. Group prize awarded to the first place team. Limited menu available: hamburgers, hot dogs, french fries and pizza.

Be an actor

Arcadia Theater presents Missoula Children's Theatre Coal-ala-Bear series for children, Rumpelstiltskin July 11-16. Auditions will be held at 10 a.m. July 11 , at the Arcadia Theater, 1418 Graham Ave., Windber. Immediately following auditions, the cast will be announced and all who are accepted will receive a schedule. Rehearsals are July 11-15, twice a day. Allied Artists Summer Show

Poorbaugh/Burbach reunion

A reunion of related descendants of Philip Burbach/Poorbaugh, (Ca 1750-1812), will be held July 10, at the Mt. Olivet Church grove in Northampton Township, 9 miles south of Berlin, off LR2020. This is a continuation of the Poorbaugh/Purbaugh/ Burbach reunion which held its 66th reunion in 2019. The first reunion of the association was in 1952. Annual Senior Picnic

The annual Senior Picnic, hosted by the Area Agency on Aging of Somerset County, has returned. It will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 29, at the Somerset County Fairgrounds, 7842 Mount Davis Road, Meyersdale. Lunch is served at noon. Tickets may be purchased at any Senior Community Service Center or at the Area Agency on Aging office at 1338 S. Edgewood Ave., Somerset. For more information, call 814-443-2681. On the menu is hamburger on bun, two chicken strips, mac n' cheese and watermelon. Musical entertainment will be provided by local group The Krazy Kat Daddies. There will also be a car show. The first 25 cars to sign up get a free ticket. Plenty of parking available on-site and 1950s attire is encouraged.

Hyatt's Angels 5K and 1 mile run/walk

Registration is now open for the "Hyatt's Angels" 9th annual 5K and 1 mile fun run/walk, 9 a.m. Sept. 10, in Jennerstown. Set at Pine Springs Camp, the landscape is a 3.1 mile out and back course that weaves through the countryside. The course includes "Hyatt's Hill" right after the half-way point. 2nd Infantry Division members

Mt. Davis Challenge

The Confluence Tourism Association will be hosting the Mt. Davis Challenge bicycle race on June 26. This 40/56 mile race will start in Confluence and climb over Mt. Davis, the highest point in Pennsylvania. About 150 amateur riders from 10 states are expected to participate in this ninth annual event. The race starts at 11 a.m. and each field of riders will race the same 40 mile course, which has a total climb of nearly 5,000 feet. The course is a lollipop style which will use Route 523, Fort Hill Road, Pumpkin Center Road and Mt. Davis Road to go over Mt. Davis which has an elevation of 3,213 feet. Once over the top, the course loops around the back side of the mountain on St. Paul Road, Oak Dale Road, Route 669 and Savage Road and returns on the same roads as the approach. The category 1/2/3 riders will do two loops.

Men and women riders will be competing in both ability and age categories for a total of $1,600 in cash prizes as well as some merchandise prizes. All riders are required to have a USA Cycling license and a one day license will be available on race day for $10 for non-licensed riders. The race will be held rain or shine and registration will be held at the Community Center next to the town park in Confluence beginning at 8:30 a.m. All riders must wear a helmet and no rider is permitted to cross the center line of any road. Traffic will be controlled at intersections and water stations will be available at the top of the mountain. Awards will be presented at the Confluence town park.
