Windber Anniversary T-shirts are available. All proceeds benefit the Windber Public Library, 1909 Graham Ave., Windber. Wreaths Across America local effort underway

The Great Crossings Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is participating in Wreaths Across America. NSDAR’s mission is to promote patriotism, historic preservation and education. Wreaths Across America’s mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach. The goal is to place a live, balsam fir veteran’s wreath at the headstones of every service member buried at Addison Cemetery to Remember their sacrifice, Honor their service, and Teach the next generation about the value of our freedom and to ensure it is not lost. Women’s Fellowship Annual Bazaar

The Meyersdale Church of the Brethren Women’s Fellowship Annual Bazaar will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until sold out) Nov. 4, in the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren Fellowship Hall, Meyersdale. For sale will be vegetable beef and ham and bean soup, baked goods, containers of sloppy joes and ham salad, and craft Items. Proceeds benefit local charities and community needs.

Wine at the Mansion

Friends of the Meyersdale Public Library hosts the Wine at the Mansion from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 5, at the Levi Deal Mansion, 301 Meyers Ave., Meyersdale. This year’s event is dedicated to the late Kim Clapper, a long-time member of the Friends of the Meyersdale Public Library and of the library board of directors. A variety of wines will be featured along with local wines made by Wayne Miller and Ron Miller. Other refreshments will include cheeses from FireFly Farms Creamery and Market in Accident, Maryland, chocolates, fruit and crackers. There will be a silent auction and door prizes. Community dinner

A free community dinner, served at the Windber Area Community Kitchen, will be held from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 5, at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1800 Stockholm Ave., Windber. The menu will be meat loaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, fruit, bread and dessert. The meal will be served and sponsored by Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Fall Fest Craft & Vendor Show

The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Somerset will kick off its new fundraising season with the 6th annual Fall Fest Craft/Vendor Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 5, at the Somerset Area Junior High gymnasium and cafeteria, 645 S. Columbia Ave., Somerset. There will be a large basket raffle and Relay Teams will have a variety of food available for purchase including homemade soups, sandwiches and baked goods. Relay Team Faith Lutheran Church will have its annual 2023 lottery calendars available for purchase. Admission and parking are free. Funds raised from Relay For Life events help the American Cancer Society provide free information and support for people facing the disease, educate people about how to reduce their risk for cancer or detect it early when it’s the easiest to treat, and fund cancer research that will help protect future generations. Fall bazaar in Ursina

WCSC Ladies of the United Community Church in Ursina Annual Fall Bazaar is from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Nov. 5, in the Fellowship Hall of the church. There will be a variety of homemade soups and haluski, a bake sale, homemade pies, a variety of greeting cards, dish cloths and White Elephant tables where someone's junk could be another person's treasure. Lunch will be available, soup, sandwich and desserts. The church is one mile north of Confluence along Route 281 where Shawn Roberts is the pastor.

Veterans Day Dinner and Concert

Flight 93 Memorial Chorus and the Shanksville community present Veterans Day Dinner and Concert Nov. 6, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville. No charge. Free will donations are accepted. All veterans and community members are invited to a spaghetti dinner before the concert, 4:45-6 p.m. with the concert to follow at 6 p.m.

Election Day meal

The Mission Outreach and Support Team of Friedens Lutheran Church will serve food all day on Election Day, Nov. 8. Lunch items will include vegetable soup, hot dogs, sloppy joes, pasta salad, gobs, pie and cookies. Dinner will be served from 4-7 p.m. This year’s menu is stuffed pork or stuffed chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, creamed lettuce, cake and a drink. There is a cost per meal and will be available to eat in or carry out. Proceeds from the sale of food will benefit the Next Step Center and the Friedens Lutheran Church Community Thanksgiving Meal.

Somerset Junior and Senior High School is inviting all veterans to attend the Veterans Day assembly Nov. 10. Complimentary breakfast at 7:30 a.m. in the junior high cafe. Junior high school assembly at 8:30 a.m. in the auditorium. Senior high school assembly 9:55 a.m. in the auditorium.

Candlelight open house at Historic Hanna’s Town

You’re invited to a cozy evening by the fire at Hanna’s Tavern and the reconstructed early 1800s Lefevre log house for a Candlelight Open House from 4–7:30 p.m. Nov. 10. Somerset Alliance Church free one-night seminar "Surviving the Holidays" for teens and adults is at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 11. St. Paul's UCC, 202 W. Union St., Somerset, quilters will be holding their annual needle work bazaar downstairs in the social hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 11 and 12. Available for sale are quilts, home decor items (pillows, tablerunners, place mats, wall hangings), Christmas decor items, zippered travel bags of various sizes, cross body purses, and many other treasures appropriate for stocking stuffers. Local Hero Bingo

Local Hero Bingo, Nov. 12, at 413 Grant St., Meyersdale, benefits Meyersdale American Legion and Meyersdale Volunteer Fire Department. Doors open at 12 p.m. Early birds at 1:30 p.m. Games begin at 2 p.m. Ticket includes three cards, 20 games played, $500 guaranteed jackpot. Only 200 tickets sold. Food available for purchase. Community Arts Center of Cambria County’s 52nd Annual Holly Bazaar

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County 52nd Holly Bazaar begins Nov. 12 and runs through Christmas Eve, Dec. 24. The Community Arts Center will be open seven days a week, Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. during the Holly Bazaar. The Holly Bazaar, located in the Goldhaber-Fend Fine Arts Center’s gallery and M. Josephine Paul Family Museum, features handcrafted items from more than 65 local craftsmen and artisans. The Holly Bazaar will also feature the Community Arts Center’s annual Holiday Candy and Nut sale.

The 21st Basket Bonanza runs from Nov. 12 through Dec. 18. This gives visitors a chance to win more than 100 baskets donated by the Community Arts Center’s members, friends and local businesses. Basket donations will be accepted only through Nov. 8. Additionally, CACCC presents the Festival of the Trees, featuring six trees designed and created by local artists. These one-of-a-kind trees are part of a silent auction between Nov. 12 and Dec. 18.

The annual Holly Bazaar also includes raffle chances. Items in this year’s raffle include two $100 cash trees, a $50 lottery tree, a decorative wall tapestry, solid chocolate plaque from O’Shea’s, a Longaberger basket, and “Corinne,” the 2022 American Girl Doll of the year. All raffle proceeds benefit the CACCC’s free programming and events overed throughout the year. CACCC also provides registration for free door prizes for all attendees. Winners will be drawn Dec. 19. Progressive 50/50 chances can be purchased from Nov. 12 through Dec. 24, the winner will be drawn at 1 p.m. Winners need not be present to win and will be notified.

The Handbag and Scarf Boutique, The Boutique, is accepting donations. The Boutique consists of new or gently used purses, handbags, duffel/travel bags, clutches and wallets, along with the addition of scarves and neckerchiefs. A children and youth book section is offered at the Holly Bazaar. A percentage from each book sold will go back to the Community Arts Center. CACCC is incorporating a variety of musical entertainment including pianists, vocalists and a polka group. An entertainment schedule can be found at caccc.org. Holiday workshops, classes, and Arty Parties will be held throughout November and December. Santa Claus will be stopping by from 12-3 p.m. Dec. 17.

"Anastasia"

Meyersdale Area High School 41st musical, “Anastasia,” at 7 p.m. Nov. 17 and 18and at 2 p.m. Nov. 19, in the high school auditorium. This musical adapts the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanova of Russia’s rumored escape from the execution of her family in 1918 following the Bolshevik overthrow of her father, Tsar Nicholas II.

Johnstown Concert Series

The Johnstown Concert Series presents Clipper Erickson, pianist, 7:30 p.m. Nov. 19, at the First Presbyterian Church, 309 Lincoln St., Johnstown. Free Thanksgiving Day dinner

The annual free Thanksgiving Day Dinner will be held in the Wilson Community Room of the Central City Borough Building, 314 Central Ave., Central City, Thanksgiving day Nov 24. It will be sit-down dinner, served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also available will be carryout meals from 10 a.m., and a limited delivery area — Central City and Cairnbrook areas only. Sign up must be prior to Nov. 18, at the Central City Borough Office, or by calling 814-754-8290. This is a complete Thanksgiving dinner, including pumpkin pie. Guests may have a choice of a bakery item to enjoy at home also. This is the sixth year for this event, all paid for by donations from various clubs, organizations, churches and individuals. CACCC’s Log Art Theatre auditions

The Community Arts Center of Cambria County will be hosting open call auditions for the 2023 Log Art Theatre season of plays, 6-8 p.m. Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Participants must be 18 years of age or older to audition. Tryouts will include a few monologues and readings for those interested in being part of the 2023 season. No preparation required; all materials will be provided at auditions. Auditionees only have to attend one of the two audition dates. The 2023 season of productions includes: Arsenic & Old Lace — Feb. 17, 18, 19, 24, 25, 26; The Nerd — guest director Lance Mekeel — June 8, 9, 10, 11; and Death Trap Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre — Sept. 29, 30, Oct. 1, 6, 7, 8.

Log Art Theatre Academy will produce three productions this year with School House Rock LIVE Jr. — March 31, April 1, 2, Fame Jr Musical Theatre Camp — July 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, and Alice in Wonderland — Oct. 13, 14, 15. Auditions will be held for School House Rock LIVE Jr. andAlice in Wonderland two months before the performance dates, andFame Jr Musical Theatre Campis a tuition based camp that will audition participants two weeks prior to camp beginning.

Celebrate agriculture at PA Preferred® reception

Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding invited Pennsylvanians to celebrate the state’s $132.5 billion agriculture industry at the 107th PA Farm Show’s PA Preferred® Reception, where they’ll enjoy the finest in Pennsylvania-grown and produced food, drinks, and desserts. The reception will be held Jan. 6, in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex. “This year’s Farm Show theme, Rooted in Progress, invites visitors to explore the breadth of Pennsylvania agriculture, our heritage, and the innovations driving us forward,” said Secretary Redding. Tickets are available to the public for purchase. The ticket includes admission to the reception, parking, food and drinks, and a short program.
