CACCC exhibition
The Community Arts Center of Cambria County presents the juried exhibition of The Rose Mary Hagadus & Helen C. Hinchman Memorial Exhibitduring September.The exhibit was established to foster the art of Pennsylvania artists. It will be open to all college/university juniors or seniors majoring in art, or any established artist, in Blair, Cambria, Somerset, Indiana and Westmoreland counties. Artists limit entries to two submissions in the representational works of painting, sculpture, or works on paper. Works must be brought to the center at 1217 Menoher Boulevard in Johnstown, between 1-5 p.m. Aug. 24, between 1-6 p.m. Aug. 25, or between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug. 26. An opening reception and awards presentation is 6-8 p.m. Sept. 7. Awards presented will be the Rose Mary Hagadus Legacy Award ($500), Helen C. Hinchman Platinum Award ($1,000), Helen C. Hinchman Legacy Award ($900), and Helen C. Hinchman Education Award ($600). The Rose Mary Hagadus & Helen C. Seven Springs Wine Fest
The 30th annual Seven Springs Wine Festival is Aug. 25-27, featuring nearly 25 wineries. Friday night celebrates the event’s creation with a “Party Like It’s 1993” theme with entertainment by the band Old Skool from 7-9 p.m. Wear vintage 90s attire. The Seven Springs culinary team will host “Cooking with Wine” and Black Dog Wine Company will host “Wine Tasting Like A Pro.” Ticket sales are available online and may also be available at the event gate. Admission to the festival includes a souvenir wine glass, samples from up to 25 Pennsylvania wineries, music on multiple stages, access to wine seminars, and complimentary wine check service for purchases made from attending wineries. The festival is open only to guests aged 21 and up.

Pennsylvania’s Master Plan for Older Adults
The Somerset County AAA is hosting a listening session on the Pennsylvania’s Master Plan for Older Adults ― a 10-year, state-led and stakeholder-driven strategic plan designed to help transform the infrastructure and coordination of services for older Pennsylvanians. The master plan will also reflect the needs and preferences of this population to live where they choose and access the supports they need to thrive and age in place. The listening session is at 10 a.m. Sept. 8, at the Somerset Church of the Brethren, 606 Berlin Plank Road, Somerset. Camp Cadet of Somerset County Sporting Clays fundraiser
Camp Cadet of Somerset County will be hosting a benefit sporting clays event on Sept. 16, at Buffer Creek Sporting Clays, Somerset. Sign-in begins at 8 a.m. Registration is charged per shooter and there are four shooters per squad and must be received by Aug. 31. There will be a limit of 30 (4 person) squads accepted. Play Among the Stars
The Moxham Renaissance will host Play Among the Stars: An Evening with Sinatra at the Russell House, 538 Russell Ave., Johnstown, from 5:30–10 p.m. Sept. 29-30. Sitting Bulls new player registration
Sitting Bulls Disabled Sled Hockey new player registration day for the 2023-2024 season is 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 9, at Galactic Ice, Altoona, and 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 16 at NCRC (North Center Recreation Center Rink), Ebensburg. This is for children (school age) and adults who would be interested in participating in a competitive sport of sled hockey designed for those with a physical disability. All needed hockey equipment and sleds will be available at these practices for potential players to try sled hockey. Please pre-register. Physically disabled hockey players sit in specially designed sleds that are placed on top of two hockey skate blades. Each player uses two special hockey sticks with metal picks on the butt end, instead of one, to propel themselves on the ice. Sled hockey is played on a standard sized rink with the same size puck and nets. Sitting Bulls Sled Hockey has disabled athletes from Cambria, Somerset, Indiana, Centre and Blair counties. During the 2023-2024 hockey season hockey, practices will be held at NCRC in Ebensburg and Galactic Ice in Altoona. Unite on the Rock
Traveling evangelist Jay Lowder and recording artist Jason Crabb will headline "Unite on the Rock" at the Allegany County Fairgrounds on Sept. 10-12. This Christian faith festival is free. Lowder, who served as the guest speaker during the region’s National Day of Prayer events held in May, brings an energetic message of hope to reach those struggling with depression, addiction, and lost purpose. “Fields of Faith” will kick off the event on Sunday with a focus on area youth. A car show, disc golf, cornhole, and other field games will begin at 3 p.m. Food and activities will be offered from 4-6 p.m. Fellowship with Christian Athletes will begin at 6 p.m. The main service will begin at 7 p.m. with worship by Crabb and a message from Lowder. The evening will wrap up with prize giveaways. On Monday and Tuesday evenings, “The Harvest” will begin with worship at 7 p.m. followed by a message from Lowder. Night market once a month, every second Thursday through September. Live entertainment will be featured at all night markets. Access to locally sourced produce, artisan made goods and ready to eat foods. The SNAP program will be part of this market season.

The Maple City Farmers' Market is the second Wednesday of the month, through September, from 4-7 p.m. at uptown Meyersdale on the corner of Main and Center streets. Sept. 13. Live music in the gazbo.
Golf Tournament for Benevolent Care Fund
Laurel View Village, a full-service Continuing Care Retirement Community's (CCRC) annual golf tournament is Sept. 13, at Windber Country Club. The day will include a boxed lunch, 18 holes of golf with cart, golf shirt, dinner, and prizes. This event is specifically designed to raise funds for The Caring Fund, a restricted endowment, whose sole purpose is to assist residents whose financial resources, through no fault of their own, are insufficient to cover the cost of their care, at Laurel View Village. Last year alone, Laurel View Village provided residents with more than $800,00.00 in benevolent assistance. To pay for this care, Laurel View Village relies on contributions from individual donors, corporate donors, and fundraising events such as this golf tournament, an annual pledge dinner, basket party and Christmas in the Village vendor show. Sporting clays fundraiser
The Salvation Army Western Pennsylvania Division hosting the sixth annual Shoot for Hope fundraiser, in honor of Michael Stark. This annual sporting clay fundraiser benefits Pathway of Hope, a program that aims to empower families and end generational poverty. Participants will spend the day shooting clay targets at this outdoor event, presented by BNY Mellon and the Stark family, on Sept. 14, at Highlands Sporting Clays, with accommodations provided by Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Space is limited. Visit salvationarmywpa.org/shootforhope to purchase tickets. Registration will open at 8 a.m., followed by safety training at 9:45 a.m., a shotgun start at 10 a.m., followed by a buffet lunch and awards. All skill levels are welcome to participate in this 100-target event. A shotgun will be available at each station; however, shooters can bring their own equipment. Ammunition will be provided; instruction is also available.
Spaghetti dinner
Spaghetti dinner from 4-6 p.m. Sept. 14, at the Ursina American Legion Post 946 Home. Menu will be spaghetti, meat sauce, salad, bread and dessert. Eat-in or take-out. Proceeds go for the upkeep of the building.
Fall 'in Baconfest
The Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department Fall 'in Baconfest is from 5-9 p.m. Sept. 15 and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept 16, at the Geistown Fire Station, 631 Lamberd Ave., Geistown. Car cruise, fun factory, food and craft vendors, children's area, bacon eating contest, basket raffles in the bay, and music by "Octane" and "Midnight Graffiti." Hosted by Richland fire department and Geistown borough.
VOMA
Gary Antol and Jesse Eisenbise will appear at VOMA Sept. 15, as part of the VOMA Folk and Bluegrass Series. The show is for all ages. The doors at VOMA, 305 Chestnut St., in Cambria City, will open at 7 p.m., music will start at 7:30 p.m., and the event is BYOB for those 21 and over, with ID. Jenner Rod & Gun Club annual Youth .22 Shoot
Jenner Rod & Gun Club annual Youth .22 Shoot is Sept. 16, at the club shooting range, 157 Geiger Road, Friedens. Preregistration is strongly encouraged. To register, call 814-629-5809. Sign-in will be at 8 a.m. The event begins at 9 a.m. This free event is open to all community youth ages 15 and under. Club membership is not required. A parent or legal guardian must accompany the youth to the shoot. Participants should bring their own gun. If they do not have a gun, one will be available for use. Safety glasses, ear protection and ammo will be provided. Youth participants will be treated to a picnic style lunch. All youth shooters from beginner to advanced are welcome to participate. All participants will have a chance to win a door prize and a chance to win a .22 rifle. If the event of severe weather, the rain date will be Sept. 17.
NRA banquet
The friends of the NRA will be hosting a banquet Sept. 17, at the Bakersville fire hall. Doors open at 2 p.m. Tickets available by contacting Bob Barnes at 814-442-8077. This is a fundraiser for the shooting sports, raising money for the high school shooting teams, Boy Scouts, 4-H, or any other organization requesting grants to promote the shooting sports. Ticket packages are available with a special offer for pre-banquet purchases.
Family Hospice grief support group
Family Hospice, Part of UPMC, is offering free grief support sessions at the Family Hospice (formerly In Touch Hospice) office, 1474 N. Center Ave., Somerset. Groups will be held from 6-7 p.m. Tuesdays from Sept. 19-Oct. 10. Family Hospice Spiritual Counselor the Rev. Duane Riddle is facilitating this group for attendees to share their feelings with others who are grieving. Space is limited. Registration is required by Sept. 18 by contacting the Rev. 21ST annual Cambria County College Fair
The 21st annual Cambria County College Fair will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 19, inside the main gym of Pennsylvania Highlands Community College’s Richland Campus. This event, which is sponsored and hosted by Pennsylvania Highlands, is open to anyone, including students, parents, and the public, who are looking to further their education or trade. More than 50 representatives will likely be appearing at the fair, including four-year universities, technical schools, business colleges, cosmetology schools and universities, branches of the military, local businesses, and more.

Ligonier Night Market
The monthly Ligonier Night Market is around The Diamond and along Main Street in historic downtown Ligonier. Food products from more than 30 local farmers and food processors. The Ligonier Country Market (LCM) and the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce co-sponsor the Night Market, from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 21. Musical entertainment schedule: artists will perform on the Diamond Park bandstand: Sept. 21: Cashout. Books Come Alive ― a unique library-based outreach program that takes best-loved children's books and turns them into 30-minute musicals. The shows will start at 6 p.m. and will be held on the library’s outside patio. Adults should plan to stay with their children for the show.
