What's Happening? 10 upcoming events in the Fayetteville area

From preparing for the start of the school year to having some fun, there are plenty of events to fill the coming days in the Fayetteville area.

Chukk Scott's Foundation in partnership with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers presents a Back to School Bash 6-9 p.m. Friday at Segra Stadium, 460 Hay St.

The event offers free school supplies to those in need. Some of the supplies include backpacks, folders, notebooks, pencils, markers and clothes. Those interested must RSVP for the event at https://www.chukkscottsfoundation.org/.

Here are nine other upcoming events in the Fayetteville area:

Downtown Salsa & Swing

The Culture & Heritage Alliance presents Downtown Salsa & Swing Night every Tuesday until Aug.30 from 7-9 p.m. at Volta Space, 116 Person St., Fayetteville.

The event is free and open for dancers from beginners to intermediate. Salsa is from 7-8 p.m. and swing/shag from 8-9 p.m.

Legendary Karaoke 

Legendary Karaoke is at Stop_Button Bar, 4251 Legion Road, #127, Hope Mills, 7-9 p.m. Thursday. 

During the event, all games are free to play and the bar is open until midnight. The event has a $7 cover charge. 

Those interested can sign up to sing by downloading the Songbooks Online app.

World Tour Sneaker Event

The J&P World Tour Sneaker Event is 11 a.m. Sunday at the Crown Arena, 1960 Coliseum Drive.

Attendees can buy, sell and trade sneakers at the event.

Tickets are $20 in advance, $30 the day of and $50 for VIP. They can be purchased through https://www.crowncomplexnc.com.

Yoga & Beer

Dirtbag Ales Brewery and Taproom presents its Yoga & Beer event Sunday.

Dirtbag Ales Brewery and Taproom, 5435 Corporation Drive, Hope Mills, presents its Yoga & Beer event 9-11 a.m. Sunday.

There will be two classes, one starting at 9 a.m. and the other starting at 10 a.m in the pavilion. Attendees are required to bring their own yoga mats.

Yoga class and beer cost $12. Tickets are available the day of the event.

Get Creative with Legos

The Spring Lake branch of the Cumberland County Library presents Get Creative with Legos, 11 a.m.-noon Tuesday at 101 Laketree Blvd.

The event is in the library's meeting room and is for children 1-5 years of age.

WWII Exhibits

The Airborne & Special Operations Museum presents the World War II Exhibition until Nov. 13.

The U.S. Airborne and Special Operations Museum, 100 Bragg Blvd., Fayetteville, presents two World War II exhibits, Courage and Compassion: The Legacy of the Bielski Brothers and Operation HALYARD.

Courage and Compassion: The Legacy of the Bielski Brothers exhibit showcases the efforts of three brothers who helped save more than 1,200 people while living in the forest during WWII.

Operation HALYARD exhibit highlights the mission to rescue downed U.S. airmen from Nazi-occupied Serbia during WWII.

Both exhibits are on display in the museum's lobby until Nov. 13.

The exhibition is 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and noon-4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is free.

Summer Concert Series

The Fayetteville Dinner Theater presents its Summer Concert Series with the band Shoot to Thrill at 5 p.m. Friday at the Gates Four Golf & Country Club, 6775 Irongate Drive, Fayetteville.

Shoot to Thrill is an AC/DC tribute band. The pre-show entertainment starts at 6 p.m. and the main event is 7-10 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

Sandhills Farmers Market

The Sandhills Family Heritage Association holds Sandhills Farmers Market of Spring Lake 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday at 230 Chapel Hill Road.

The market features produce, music, food and local vendors.

Dirtbag Ales Farmers Market

Dirtbag Ales Brewery and Taproom holds its weekly Farmer's Market from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday at 5435 Corporation Drive, Hope Mills. The market features live music, local vendors, food trucks, yoga, and Dirtbag Ales craft brews.
