Boys' basketball

EVANSVILLE REITZ 60, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 53 (OT): For the second night in a row, the Cougars (12-5) could not hold on late to a second half lead as the offensive sputtered in the fourth. North led 27-22 at halftime and 38-33 after three before the host Panthers (14-4) came back to take the lead with 1:01 left. The Cougars managed to tie it at 46 to send it into overtime. But Reitz pulled away. JaQualon Roberts led North with 24 points. North had won eight straight against Evansville area programs.

EASTERN GREENE 47, WHITE RIVER VALLEY 32: Another strong defensive effort turned into a SWIAC win for the T-Birds, who led 30-20 after three periods. Will Inman led Eastern (7-13, 2-4) with 23 points, hitting five 3s.

LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 83, VINCENNES RIVET 44: Lions (15-4) are down three starters (Will Wickstrom, Carson Jones, Cam Craft) and still roll to bounce back from tough home loss to Shakamak. Coda Snyder had 33 points and Brock Banks 22 to lead LCA.

Gymnastics

BLOOMINGTON NORTH INVITATIONAL: North posted a 105.3 and won every individual apparatus to take the title at the nine-team meet by almost six points over New Palestine and Martinsville. Martinsville's Gabby Grubb won the all-around title with a 35.325 while North's Sofie Garcia was second (34.775). Other North results: Vault: 1. Hope Taylor 9.375; 4. Claire Dann 8.775. Bars: 1. Garcia 8.85; 4. Taylor 8.225; 8. Maddie Rich 7.725. Beam: 1. Jessica Floyd 9.425; 4. Garcia 8.6; 5. Dann 8.55; 9. Rich 8.125. Floor: 1. Floyd 9.4; 3. Taylor 9.05; 5. Garcia 8.8; 8, Dann 8.625. Friday, Feb. 11

Boys' basketball

TERRE HAUTE NORTH 59, BLOOMINGTON NORTH 58: Bloomington North's defense and its ability to close out games went missing for a night as the Patriots rallied in the second half to secure at least second place in Conference Indiana. The Cougars (12-4, 2-2) had a solid 24-17 lead at halftime and saw THN make a strong run in the third and hit a shot at the buzzer to get within 40-39. The Patriots took the lead with 1:30 to go, 52-50 and got up four before a Dawan Daniels' 3 with 3.2 seconds left settled the final score. North's JaQualon Roberts had a half-court shot at the buzzer but missed to end the Cougars' win streak at nine. THN's three wins at North since joining CI are by two points in OT, one and one.

VINCENNES LINCOLN 61, EASTERN GREENE 46: The T-Birds (6-13) hung tough early but the Alices (4-14) pulled away in the second half. Vincennes led 19-15 after one and 31-23 at halftime before bolting to a 53-34 lead after three.

BLOOMINGTON NORTH 106.65, MARTINSVILLE 101.6, OWEN VALLEY 92.7, EDGEWOOD, NS: Cougars post second highest score of season with an outstanding night on floor. All-around: 1. Martinsville's Lily Boyd (36.4); 2. North's Sofie Garcia (35.9); 3. North's Hope Taylor (35.15); 5. Addison Goerges, Edgewood (33.2). Vault: 1. Boyd, M 9.3; 2. Taylor, N 9.2; 4. Goerges, E 8.85. Boys' basketball

EASTERN GREENE 51, OWEN VALLEY 32: T-Birds bolted to a 30-13 halftime lead and picked up their second win in a row after going through a tough 11-game gamut. Nate Myers had 21 points for Eastern (6-12). OV (6-12) has now dropped five straight.

Monday, Feb. 7

Gymnastics

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 99.975, COLUMBUS EAST 71.775; EDGEWOOD 64.375: Mia Langley won beam (8.975), floor (9.025) and the all-around title (34.25) to lead South to the win. Maddie Kawanishi tied for second with Langley on vault (8.65), won bars (8.55) and was third in beam (8.875). Edgewood's Addison Goerges was second in the all-around (34.2), winning vault (9.0) and was second on beam (8.75) and floor (8.9). South's Violet Leis was third on floor (8.8), fourth on beam (8.275) and third in the all-around (32.375). Stella Eibling was fourth on bars (7.625) and floor (8.225). Sayen Antinao was third on bars (7.925) and Alex Riggs was fourth on vault (8.5).

Saturday, Feb. 4

Boys' basketball

LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 71, PHALEN ACADEMY 38: Coda Snyder had 36 points and Will Wickstrom 15 to lead the Lions (14-3).

BLOOMINGTON SOUTH 53, MITCHELL 34: Bloomington South needed a strong second-half effort to put away Mitchell (3-15). The Panthers trailed 15-14 after one quarter and led at halftime, 25-24. But a 13-4 run in the third quarter helped South (14-5) pick up a sixth straight win.
