LIGHTHOUSE CHRISTIAN 76, MEDORA 34: The Lions jumped out to a 56-16 halftime lead but it was anything other than a routine finish as the Southern Roads Conference game was halted with about three minutes left when a Hornet player, Damien Salas, collapsed after banging heads with an LCA player. It quite naturally brought comparisons to the recent incident during the Buffalo Bills- Cincinnati Bengals NFL game involving Damar Hamlin, who had to be revived after suffering cardiac arrest. "It was a pretty scary moment," LCA coach Jeff Mills said. Both teams had their reserves in and were playing out the rest of the game under a running clock when the collision occurred after LCA grabbed a rebound. "It didn't seem like significant contact, but you could tell he got it worse than our player," said Mills, who had to reassure his player that he did nothing wrong, the contact was completely incidental.

The game was stopped and Salas walked over to the Medora bench and looked ready to get back in the game when he took two steps and fell to the floor. "You could tell immediately he was struggling," Mills said. "But I don't know that he ever lost consciousness. We gave them space." The rest of the game was quickly called off and Mills sent his players went back to the locker room as many began praying for Salas' recovery. "He was out there a good long while," Mills said, while waiting on the ambulance to arrive to the rural community, located about 10 miles southwest of Brownstown. Salas was eventually airlifted to a hospital in Louisville. Good news arrived Tuesday morning as Seymour Tribune reporter Dylan Wallace got in contact with Medora's athletic director and learned that Salas had been treated and released: "(H)e has made big strides but his grandpa said he’s still kind of out of it. But definitely have moved a lot in the right direction since last night.” Coda Snyder led LCA with 20 points and Carson Jones had 10 as four other Lions scored at least seven points. LCA his 14 3s. Snyder had 18 in the first as LCA put the game away early.
