What's the most popular Easter candy in Oklahoma? It depends who you ask.

Easter is upon us, with several free Easter Egg hunts scheduled at houses of worship across Oklahoma City. The holiday marks the beginning of Spring and is celebrated by Christians to commemorate their belief in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Traditions like the Easter bunny laying colored eggs came to the United States from German immigrants in the 18th century, according to the History Channel. Stories like this led to decorated baskets replacing nests for eggs, and by the 1930s, egg-shaped candy like jelly beans began to be associated with the holiday.

Today, there are kinds of different candies you can choose to partake in around Easter. Here's what polls said Oklahomans love the most:

Candy store says Jelly Beans are Oklahoma's favorite Easter candy

CandyStore.com did a survey of their customers to identify the favorite candy by state. By weighing their poll of 10,000 people and looking at 15 years of candy sales data, the website determined that jelly beans were Oklahomans' favorite candy, with Hershey's fun-size chocolate bars and Peeps following.

The findings were shared in March 2023. The vendor also reports that Okie's favorite flavors of jelly beans are, in order, Coffee, Green Apple, and Toasted Marshmallow.

Peanut Butter Eggs called a favorite Easter candy in Oklahoma and nationwide

Meanwhile, pickup and delivery company Instacart suggests Oklahomans' favorite is Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs. The findings are based on seasonal candies sold via the company.

Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs were the most popular of all candies in Instacart's report, with the candy being the favorite of 28 other states. Instacart shared the data in March 2023.

Peeps called Oklahoma's favorite Easter treat

Zippia, a job and career guide website, researched Google search trends in each state to determine that Oklahomans' favorite Easter treat is Peeps.

Other states loved candies like Cadbury Creme Eggs and jelly beans, and 14 other states were listed as loving boiled eggs the most.

The company said they looked at a two-week window around the Easter holiday on Google Trends to identify what treats users searched for most in each state. Zippia did not list what year they conducted their study, but the data was shared in a March 2023 post.
