The Massillon Museum will be filled with happy families and friends on Feb. 5, when a free and public reception will be held for young artists whose artwork is included in the Celebration in Art and Soul Food exhibitions.

Highlights

The annual Celebration in Art in the Aultman Health Foundation Gallery includes more than 240 examples of two- and three-dimensional student creations. Art educators from 25 schools have submitted artwork from IDEA House in Canal Fulton, St. Mary School in Massillon, and the Massillon, Jackson, Perry, Fairless, Sandy Valley, and Tuslaw school systems. Celebration in Artcontinues through March 5.

The student photography exhibition series, My Community: Through the Eyes of the 21st-Century African American Child, sponsored by the Kent Area Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, this year features The Art and History of Soul Food. The Fred F. Silk Community Room Gallery exhibition features photography by sixth- to eighth-grade students in Northeast Ohio. The Museum partnered again this year with the Cleveland Print Room to provide photography instruction to students enrolled in this program. The exhibition is funded in part by Massillon Eagles Aerie #190. Soul Food continues through March 19.

Additionally on Feb. 5, guests can see an exhibition by Cleveland Art Institute student Jordi Rowe, Blueing of the Light: The Gloaming.
