A new exhibition, “A Way to Win: Paul Brown’s Innovations,” in the Paul Brown Museum within the Massillon Museum illustrates the influence of Brown’s ideas and implementation that continue in football today.

Highlights of the exhibition

Among artifacts that have not previously been displayed in the Massillon Museum are Brown's Great Lakes Naval Academy sideline jacket; game film from the 1930s; Ohio State University locker room posters; original artwork commissioned for Paul Brown during his lifetime, as well as the official portrait created for the OSU Athletic Hall of Fame induction by Westerville artist Greg Storer.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame has loaned a ball warmer, Lucite face mask, camera, lens and tripod used by the official cameraman for the Cleveland Browns from 1946 to 1983, and a Cleveland Browns football helmet for “A Way to Win.” Private collectors have loaned the projector used by Paul Brown in Massillon from 1935 to 1940 (then used by Massillon coaches through the late 1940s), George "Red" Bird's formation book for the Musical Majorettes, a Musical Majorettes travel sweater, and original Cleveland Browns playbook plays and scout reports.

Interactive components include a chalkboard wall where guests can develop their own plays; a 1940 Massillon vs Canton McKinley game film; QR codes providing access for a Paul Brown locker room lecture to the Cincinnati Bengals in 1975, film footage of George "Red" Bird's Musical Majorettes, the Cleveland Browns fight song written by George "Red" Bird specifically for the Musical Majorettes, and the Massillon Tigers Football Booster Club website; and a scavenger hunt.
