What I'm Hearing: Jarrett Bell connected with Patrick Mahomes after the Chiefs shockingly flat performance in Super Bowl 55.
JARRETT BELL: What's next for Patrick Mahomes? Put this one behind him. The Kansas City Chiefs' quarterback had the worst game of his NFL career at the worst possible time in Super Bowl 55.
Mahomes finished with a career low-- 52.3 passer rating with two picks. And the Kansas City Chiefs and their prolific offense didn't even score a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady.
PATRICK MAHOMES: They beat us pretty-- pretty good, the worst I think I've been beaten in a long time. But I'm proud of the guys and how they fought till the very end of the game.
JARRETT BELL: Mahomes talked about how the offense just wasn't on the same page in a lot of places. He started by pointing the finger at himself, saying that he didn't always get the ball out on time. But part of that reason was because he was under some relentless pressure, as the Bucs' defensive front really took advantage of a Kansas City offensive line that was down two starters.
On top of that, receivers didn't always run the same routes, the right routes. There were some dropped passes. Yeah, it was just a mess, out of sync. But one thing that Mahomes left Raymond James Stadium with was the perspective that this is now behind him.
PATRICK MAHOMES: And we can't let this define us. We have to continue to get better, coming into-- going into next year, being even better, and preparing ourselves to hopefully be in this game again.
