Bob Dean will head both the Charles Town count Dec. 19 and the Inwood, W.Va., Christmas Bird Count on Sunday, Jan. 2. The purpose is to monitor the status and distribution of early-winter bird populations. Experienced and novice birders are welcome. People who live within the circle areas can count the birds they see at their feeders during the day and submit a record of their sightings to Potomac Valley Audubon Society.
