What's open and closed around Greater Cincinnati on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day

Goodbye, 2021 (and good riddance). We're ready for 2022.

As New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are on Friday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 1, many of the services you frequently use may close early or not open altogether to observe the holiday.

Not sure what will be open and what will be closed around Greater Cincinnati? Here's the list.

What's open and what's closed on New Year's Eve, Friday, Dec. 31

Banks: Some banks will be open and some may close early on New Year's Eve, including Chase Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Federal Reserve Banks, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and TD Banks. Check your local bank hours.

Mail services: Post Office locations nationwide will be open on New Year's Eve.

Trash service: Regular trash pickup continues on New Year's Eve.

Schools: Schools in the area, including Cincinnati Public Schools, Covington Independent Schools, Newport Independent Schools, Kenton County Schools, Boone County Schools and Campbell County Schools are closed for winter break.

Local government: City of Cincinnati, Hamilton County offices and services, Campbell County, Kenton County and Boone County offices will be closed.

Federal offices: The federal holiday of New Year's Day will be observed on Friday, New Year's Eve. All non-essential government employees will be off work and most government offices will be closed.

Libraries: Cincinnati and Hamilton County Public Library will be open, but all locations will close at 5 p.m. on New Year's Eve.

Stock markets: The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will be open.

What's open and what's closed on New Year's Day, Saturday, Jan. 1

Banks: Banks will be closed, including Chase Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Federal Reserve Banks, Bank of America, Wells Fargo and TD Banks.

Mail services: New Year's Day is a postal holiday, so the U.S. Postal Service will not deliver regular mail and post office locations will be closed. All locations will open and resume regular delivery Jan. 3.

Trash service: If your regular trash collection day from the city of Cincinnati falls on New Year's Day, trash will be collected the following day. Collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed one day.

Schools: Schools in the area, including Cincinnati Public Schools, Covington Independent Schools, Newport Independent Schools, Kenton County Schools, Boone County Schools and Campbell County Schools are closed for winter break.

Local government: Hamilton County offices and services, Campbell County, Kenton County and Boone County offices will be closed.

Federal offices: Since New Year's Day is on a Saturday, all non-essential federal government offices will be closed.

Stock markets: The New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq will be closed.
