What's open and closed on Christmas in Springfield and surrounding areas
Christmas is sometimes called "the most wonderful time of the year". But just because it brings joy to so many doesn't mean that people can't stress out about finding something last minute for dinner or needing to find something on Dec. 25 that you forgot.
Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here's your comprehensive look at what's open and closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day:
Stores open on Christmas Eve in Springfield, but not Christmas Day:
Most stores will be open on Christmas Eve, although many will close early for the holiday.
County Market: County Market's four Springfield stores and their stores in Chatham, Girard, Pana, Petersburg, Pittsfield, Rushville and Sherman will be open 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Christmas Eve. All will be closed for Christmas Day.
Hy-Vee: Hy-Vee's Springfield store will be open from 6 a.m.-5 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Schnucks: Schnucks' two stores in Springfield in Montvale Plaza along Chatham Road and on Sangamon Avenue will be open from 6 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.

Ruler Foods: Ruler Foods will close at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Harvest Market: Harvest Market will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
IGA: Kent's IGA in Riverton and Lincoln IGA will be open from 7 a.m-6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day. Capri IGA in Hillsboro will be open from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Walmart: Walmart's three Springfield stores and their locations in Carlinville, Lincoln, Litchfield, Pittsfield and Taylorville will be open from 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Target: Target's Springfield store will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Meijer: Meijer's Springfield store will be open from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Sam's Club: Sam's Club's Springfield location will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Christmas Eve and will be closed Christmas Day.
Stores open Christmas Day in Springfield:
Several retailers will be open on Christmas Day in case you need a little pick-me-up:
CVS: Some of Springfield's seven CVS Pharmacies are open on Christmas Day. The pharmacies at 2001 West Washington Street and 3001 South MacArthur Boulevard, will be open from 10 a.m-8 p.m., while at 211 East Carpenter Street, will be open from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. The store at 2239 East Cook Street will be open from 8 a.m-8 p.m. Christmas Day, but closed Christmas Eve. CVS inside Schuncks on Chatham Road and Target on Freedom Drive are closed Christmas Day.
Walgreens: Walgreens' 10 Springfield locations and their stores in Chatham, Sherman, Taylorville, Lincoln and Jacksonville will be open Christmas Day, with 24-hour locations being open all day and others being open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. One exception is the pharmacy at Springfield Memorial Hospital inside the Baylis Medical Building, which will be closed Christmas Day.
Casey's General Stores: Casey's locations will close at 6 p.m. Christmas Eve and reopen at 10 a.m. on Christmas Day.
Circle K: All Circle K locations will be open 24 hours on Christmas Day.
Qik-N-EZ: All Qik-N-EZ locations will be open normal hours on Christmas Day.
BP and Amoco: All BP and Amoco locations will be open normal hours on Christmas Day.
Speedway: Speedway's location in Williamsville along Interstate 55 will be open 24 hours on Christmas Day.
Fas Mart, Jiffi Stop and Gas Mart: All locations in the GPM umbrella will be open regular hours on Christmas Day.

Restaurants open Christmas Day:
Options for dining are limited on Christmas Day, but there are a few – mainly with Asian cuisine – open on Christmas.
Hibachi Madness: Both Springfield locations will be open their regular hours of 10 a.m-8:30 p.m.
Hot Pot & BBQ Buffet: This Lindbergh Avenue location will open at noon, with plans to close at 10 p.m. They could close earlier, however, if business is slow.
Empire Korean Steakhouse and Sushi Bar: Empire will be open regular hours, 11:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m.
Sunny China House: Sunny China will be open from 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
Little Saigon: This Thai-Vietnamese restaurant will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Hunan Restaurant: Hunan will be open from 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
Flavor of India: Flavor of India will be open regular hours from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. for lunch and 4:30-10 p.m. for dinner.
Hibachi Grill Supreme Buffet: This MacArthur Boulevard spot will be open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Toasty-Subs: Toasty-Subs will close at 3 p.m. Christmas Eve, but will reopen at 1 p.m. Christmas Day and stay open until 9 p.m.
China 1: This South Grand stop will be open from 10 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
