What's Open, Closed Christmas Week 2021 In Decatur

DECATUR, GA — Christmas may be different again this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. But something that hasn't changed is the closure of many services in Decatur for the holiday.

While Christmas is a federal holiday, some services may start their closures on Christmas Eve. Here are the openings and closings to know on and around Friday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve) and Saturday, Dec. 25 (Christmas).

  • DeKalb County and city of Decatur courts, facilities and offices are closed on Friday.

  • Decatur garbage pick up: If you live in the city of Decatur, trash service will take place the day before your usual day (i.e. If service would normally be on Dec. 24, it will now be on Dec. 23).

    • If you live outside of Decatur's city limits, DeKalb County's Sanitation Division will run trash service as normal through Christmas and New Year's Day.

  • City Schools of Decatur students are off until Jan. 4.

  • DeKalb County Schools students are off until Jan. 4.

  • This is a federal holiday and all U.S. Postal Service post offices will be closed. No mail will be delivered or sent. Regular business hours will resume Monday, Dec. 27.
