Here is what's closed in the Salem area for Independence Day, which falls on this upcoming Monday, July 4. While government and financial institutions will be closed, most major retailers will remain open, albeit with shortened hours.

Schools: Closed.

Willamette University: Closed.

Chemeketa Community College: Closed.

Oregon State Capitol offices: Closed.

Salem Public Library: Closed.

Banks: Closed.

Mail: No regular service.

State government agency offices: Closed.

Stock Market: Closed.

Cherriots: Buses operate on Sunday schedule; Cherriots Regional buses, as well as SMART's Route 1X, will not be operating.

Roth's Fresh Markets: Open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. (closing one hour earlier than normal).
