What's Open, Closed In Sarasota County Christmas Weekend 2020

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — As Sarasota County residents prepare to celebrate Christmas on Friday, here are some closures and schedule changes affecting government offices, facilities and services to keep in mind this holiday weekend.

City of Sarasota government offices: All administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday. City offices will reopen Monday by appointment only.

City of Sarasota Solid Waste Department: There will be no garbage, recycling and yard waste pickup on Friday. Collection will be delayed by one day. Friday's collection will take place Saturday.

Christmas Eve’s solid waste collection schedule will be unaffected by the holiday.

Arlington Park and Aquatic Complex: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Lido Pool: Remains closed until further notice.

Nature Trails at Bobby Jones Golf Club: The trails will be open regular hours, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. The golf courses are closed until early 2022 for planned renovations.

Payne Park Tennis Center: Closed Thursday and Friday.

Robert L. Taylor Community Complex: Closed Thursday and Friday. The state-run COVID-19 testing site at this location will also be closed both days.

Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall: The box office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County Area Transit: Regular SCAT bus, SCAT Plus and On Demand service will not operate on Friday. Service will resume on Saturday.

Sarasota County Public Libraries: All branch locations will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota County Public Schools: Schools are closed through Jan. 4.

Sarasota County COVID-testing sites: Both sites - Robert L. Taylor Community Complex and the drive-through testing site at 5400 Bradenton Road – will be closed.

Sarasota County government offices: All government offices will be closed Thursday and Friday.

Sarasota CARES hotline: The CARES hotline and individual assistance ambassadors will not be in service Thursday through Sunday.

Sarasota County waste services: There will be no garbage, recycling or yard waste pickup on Friday. Friday's pick-up will take place on Saturday. Christmas Eve pick-up won’t be affected by the holiday.

County Chemical Collection Centers: Closed Thursday and Friday

Central County Landfill: Open Christmas Eve, but closed Friday. The landfill will remain open until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Citizen Convenience Center: Open Christmas Eve, but closed Friday.

Knight Trail Park pistol and rifle range: Closed Thursday and Friday.

County recreation centers: Closed Thursday and Friday.
