With each week of the South Dakota high school football season, it gets a little easier to see which teams have it and which teams don't.

With that said, we present the schedule of area high school football games, which include home openers for Watertown High School on Friday and Aberdeen Central on Saturday.

Thursday's Games

Leola-Frederick Area at Northwestern, 7 p.m. in Mellette: Leola-Frederick Area is 1-1 and Northwestern 0-2.

Elkton-Lake Benton at Bon Homme, 7 p.m. in Tyndall: Neither team has lost yet. ELB is 2-0 and Bon Homme 1-0.

Friday's Games

Tiospa Zina at Crazy Horse, 2 p.m. in Wanblee: The two-time defending All-Nations Conference champion Wambdi will look to bounce back from a season-opening loss last week. Crazy Horse also is 0-1.

Iroquois-Lake Preston at Hitchcock-Tulare, 7 p.m. in Hitchcock: The third-rated Class 9B Patriots will look to go to 3-0 against the visiting Sharks (0-2).

Huron at Watertown, 7 p.m.: Neither team had the debut they wanted last week. The Arrows lost 26-3 at No. 4 Class 11AA Brookings and Huron fell to No. 2 Tea Area 45-6.

Madison at Milbank, 7 p.m.: Speaking of debuts neither team wanted. That was the case for the two Bulldog teams that played in last year's state Class 11A championship. Each team is 0-1 so far this year.

Arlington at Castlewood, 7 p.m.: Castlewood has last week off after a season-opening win over De Smet and the Warriors are now rated fourth in Class 9A. Arlington also had last week off after losing its opener. The game was originally scheduled for Arlington but has been moved to Castlewood due to construction at the Arlington field.

Sioux Valley at Elk Point-Jefferson, 7 p.m.: An interesting matchup two rated Class 11B teams. No. 3 EPJ and No. 4 Sioux Valley are each off to 2-0 starts.

Dakota Hills at Groton Area, 7 p.m.: Both teams are 0-2, so unless they tie, somebody is going to break into the win column.

Waverly-South Shore at Britton-Hecla, 7 p.m.: Britton-Hecla (1-1) opened its season with a close win over Great Plains Lutheran. Waverly-South Shore (0-2) lost a close game to GPL last week.

Aberdeen Roncalli at Redfield, 7 p.m.: The Cavaliers will look to go to 3-0 with a Northeast Conference win over the Pheasants (1-1).

Deuel at Sisseton, 7 p.m.: Another NEC battle between two teams who are 1-1.

Winner at Webster Area, 7 p.m.: Top-rated Class 11B Winner looks dominant again and is off to a 2-0 start. Webster Area is 0-2.

Great Plains Lutheran at Deubrook Area, 7 p.m.: This game matches two programs that appear to be on the upswing. Deubrook Area is 2-0 and GPL 1-1.

De Smet at Dell Rapids St. Mary, 7 p.m.: Fourth-rated Dell Rapids and fifth-rated De Smet square off in a Dakota Valley Conference game between two 1-1 teams.

Hamlin at Garretson, 7 p.m.: Cover your eyes, this one may not be pretty. Hamlin is off to a 2-0 start and has moved up to No. 3 in the Class 9AA rankings. Garretson is 0-2.

Maple River at Tri-State, 7 p.m. in Fairmount, N.D.: Tri-State is 0-2 and Maple River 1-1.

Lemmon-McIntosh at Herreid-Selby Area, 7 p.m. in Herreid: HSA is now the No. 1-rated Class 9B team in the state with a 1-0 record. Lemmon-McIntosh is 1-1.

Ipswich at Warner, 7 p.m.: This a barometer check for two teams that are each 2-0. Warner is third-rated in Class 9A and Ipswich is receiving votes in Class 9AA.

Faulkton Area at Potter County, 7 p.m. in Gettysburg: Potter County (1-1) is looking to bounce back after losing last week. Faulkton Area is 0-2.

Sully Buttes at Langford Area, 7 p.m.: This game matches 2-0 Sully Buttes against 0-2 Langford Area.

Oakes at Oak Grove, 7 p.m. in Fargo, N.D.: Oakes is shooting to go 3-0 with another win against 0-2 Oak Grove.

Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm at Lisbon (N.D.), 7 p.m.: EEK is off to an 0-2 start and visits 1-1 Lisbon.

Saturday's Games

Mobridge-Pollock at Wagner, 2 p.m.: An afternoon win would push Mobridge-Pollock to 3-0. Wagner doesn't want to go 0-3.

Tea Area at Aberdeen Central, 7 p.m.: The Golden Eagles didn't get the benefit from the early-season schedule, hosting No. 2 Class 11AA Tea Area after losing at No. 1 Pierre last week.
