Here’s where 3 former Gators go in Touchdown Wire’s latest NFL mock draft

The 88th annual edition of the 2023 NFL draft, which kicks off on April 27 and runs until April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri, continues to approach as the month of March continues to wane. While changes in the selection order are expected before the final decisions are made, the sports media has been publishing its respective mock drafts including Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar, who released his latest three-round projection on Monday.

The first Florida Gator off Farrar’s board is quarterback Anthony Richardson, who is projected to be picked at No. 4 overall by the Indianapolis Colts. Here is what he had to offer in regard to the athletic passer’s latest draft prospects.

New Colts head coach and former Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen made his way to the Super Bowl on an offense that revolved around a talented young quarterback in Jalen Hurts who developed as a passer at the same time he was able to conduct a marvelous quarterback-led run game. Richardson would amplify those concepts to a frightening degree — as much as he does need work as a pure passer, the athleticism is off the charts, and he could come right in and have a Justin Fields-like effect on an offense that has been in the quarterback desert since Andrew Luck’s retirement.

The second Florida alumnus selected is offensive lineman O'Cyrus Torrence, who is slotted to be selected at No. 34 by the Arizona Cardinals — outside of the first round unlike most predictions. He is followed by Gervon Dexter, who is expected to be picked up by the Dallas Cowboys at No. 58 overall.

Previous UF alumni taken in the first round of the draft are cornerback Kaiir Elam (2022, No. 23), tight end Kyle Pitts (2021, No. 4), wide receiver Kadarius Toney (2021, No. 20) and cornerback CJ Henderson (2020, No. 9).
