Here’s where Bears’ win percentage ranks during 16-game era

The NFL has officially moved to a 17-game regular season, which means the league is moving on from the 16-game era that spanned from 1978 to 2020.

There’s been plenty of up-and-down moments for the Chicago Bears during those 42 years — ranging as high as a Super Bowl championship and as low as a double-doink missed field goal. Most recently, they had back-to-back 8-8 seasons.

Kendall Baker of Axio Sports compiled a list of team win percentages during the 16-game era, and the Bears rank around the middle of the pack. They posted a win percentage of .510, which included a 347-333 record. That ranks 14th best in the NFL, where Chicago was just one of 16 teams that finished above .500.

The Bears had the third-best winning percentage in the NFC North. As for the rest of the division, the Green Bay Packers led the North with a .565 win percentage (381-293-6), the Minnesota Vikings were second with a .530 win percentage (359-318-3) and the Detroit Lions ranked dead last in the league with a .396 win percentage (268-410-2).
