Where’s the best city to live in the US? A Chicago suburb, new study finds

NAPERVILLE, Ill. — Illinoisans, you don’t have to go far if you want to find the best city to live in the United States.

According to Niche.com’s 10th annual Best Places to Live in America, Naperville is the ‘Best City to Live in America’ and the ‘Best City to Raise a Family.’

The city also received an ‘A+’ grade for its public schools.

Chicago ranks among ‘Most Stressful Cities’ for workers nationwide

Naperville had been ranked in the top five for the past five years but finally ascended to the top in 2024.

The southwest suburb also ranked third among the site’s ‘Best City to Buy a Home in America’ list.

With a population of about 150,000, residents say Naperville combines the best parts of a big city with a small-town feel.
