The classics

Old Town Fort Collins

Ready to see downtown Fort Collins in its snow globe era? Old Town's tree-lined streets are decked out with thousands of white LED lights — part of a decadeslong tradition that brightens downtown from November to Valentine's Day. Start your holiday lights drive with a quick tour down College Avenue. Bonus points: Stop at a coffee shop for some hot chocolate before heading out to your other lights destinations.

Menorah lightings

Celebrate Chanukah in Fort Collins with two separate menorah lighting ceremonies. Of course, there's the traditional ceremony in Old Town Square on Thursday, Dec. 22, with Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt, dignitaries and community members gathering for the lighting of downtown's giant menorah around 5:30 p.m. But don't sleep on Foothills mall this season. It, too, will be hosting a menorah lighting — and overall Chanukah Wonderland event — from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Stop by for live music, entertainment, food, arts, crafts, games and the mall's' own giant menorah.

Loveland's Winter Wonderlights

Winter Wonderlights is back at the Chapungu Sculpture Park at Centerra. Walk through its winter wonderland of 150,000 lights, including holiday string lights, twinkling lights, LED snowflakes, a 23-foot-tall LED mappable Christmas tree and illuminated African stone sculptures. The event's light show takes place every 30 minutes, repeating continuously from 5 to 9 p.m. each night through Jan. 1. Winter Wonderlights is free and open to the public.

Garden of Lights

In true Fort Collins tradition, The Gardens on Spring Creek, 2145 Centre Ave., will once again become the Garden of Lights this season. After lighting up Friday, Dec. 9, the city-run botanic garden's illuminated gardens, whimsical holiday displays and thousands of glittering holiday lights will run nightly through Dec. 24. Don't forget to stop inside for a cup of hot chocolate or a visit with Santa. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 5-11 and free children 4 years old or younger. To purchase tickets today, visit fcgov.com/gardens/garden-of-lights.

Two Trees Farm Christmas Walk - RESCHEDULED DUE TO WEATHER FORECAST

Two Trees Horse Farm, 1108 N. Lemay Ave., is back with its huge holiday display. The annual Christmas lights walk at the farm, originally set to take place Dec. 22, has been rescheduled for 6-8 p.m. Dec. 29 due to forecast cold temps and winter weather.

While admission for the annual walk is free, donations are requested. This year, those donations will benefit Colorado State University athletes. No dogs and no cars are allowed on the property during the Christmas lights walk. Parking will be available west of Lemay Avenue on Conifer Street.

A NoCo Winter Wonderland

Take a spin through Colorado Youth Outdoors' Winter Wonderland — a one-mile drive-thru holiday display that features more than 200,000 tree lights, jingle bells, wildlife-themed light sculptures, falling snow, Santa and more. Winter Wonderland takes place at the Fort Collins nonprofit, 4927 County Road 36, with the display running from 5:15-8:15 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays until Dec. 19 and nightly Dec. 20-25. Reservations are required and cost $20 per vehicle or $60 per party bus. Proceeds will benefit Colorado Youth Outdoors. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit coloradoyo.org.
