Where can you find bike paths and trails in the Kansas City area? Here’s our list
Biking is a popular summer activity, and Kansas City has plenty of bike trails for riders at all difficulty levels.
Plan a day trip, or hop on your bike and head out to one of these trails around the city. Below, we list about 40 options from across the metro area, in both Missouri and Kansas.

MISSOURI BIKE TRAILS
→ Kansas City
Harry Wiggins Trolley Track Trail is over 6 miles long and starts near the Country Club Plaza.
The Gillham Cycle Track is a 3.5-mile long bike path along Gillham Road, heading into downtown Kansas City. It starts near Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard and ends at 12th Street and Oak Street. The track also connects to the Harry Wiggins Trolley Track Trail.
The Riverfront Heritage Trail in the West Bottoms is 15 miles long and takes you through neighborhoods in Kansas City, Missouri, and Kansas City, Kansas — such as the River Market, Quality Hill, the Westside, Strawberry Hill and downtown Kansas City, Kansas.
Benton Boulevard Bikeway is 4 miles long and starts near The Grove Park at 1500 Benton Blvd.
Swope Park has over 20 miles of bike trails. You can get there starting at 3999 Swope Parkway and 3999 E. Meyer Blvd.
→ Jackson County
There are five different trails at Fleming Park by Lake Jacomo at 22807 SW Woods Chapel Road in Lee’s Summit. Enjoy the scenic views of the lake as you ride around these trails:
Clermont Nature Trail: 1 mile
Pa-Huska Nature Trail: 1.2 miles
Prickly Pear Cactus Glade Nature Trail: 1 mile
Rock Ledges Nature Trail: 1.5 miles
Tcha-To-Ga Nature Trail: 1.2 miles
More bike trails in Jackson County, from longest to shortest:
Blue River Parkway has 26 miles of trails, starting at 10831 Blue River Road.
Landahl Park Trails has 21 miles of trails, include an 18-mile single-track trail. It starts at E. Argo Road in Independence.
Little Blue Trace Trail is 15.5 miles long and starts at 13498 E. 87th St. in Lee’s Summit.
Rock Island Trail is 6.5 miles long and has two starting points: 98th Street Trailhead at 12600 E. 98th St. and Hartman Park at 700 SW. Pryor Road.
Longview Trail is 6.5 miles long and starts at Shelter House No. 14 in Longview Lake Park.
Blue Springs Lake Trails is 5 miles long and starts at 1700 NE Bowlin Road in Lee’s Summit.
Cave Spring Park Trails is 4.5 miles long and starts at 8701 E. Gregory Blvd.
Monkey Mountain Horse Trail is 3 miles long and starts at 35007 E. Old Highway 40 at Grain Valley.
River Bluff Reserve Trail is 2.4 miles long and starts at Highway 291 at Sugar Creek.
→ Clay County
The Smoke & Davey Trail System at County Road W. in Smithville has three trails:
Backbone Trail: 2.7 miles
Whispering Pine Trail: 1.4 miles long
Copperhead Ridge Trai: 0.7 miles long
The Camp Branch Trail System at 17201 Paradesian St. in Smithville has three trails:
Bonebender Trail: 6 miles
Campground Trail: 2.9 miles
Eagle’s View Trail: 1.5 miles
The Crows Creek Trail System at 4601 Crow Creek Road in Smithville has two trails:
Anita B. Gorman Trail: 1.9 miles
Cabin Fever Trail: 7 miles
→ Platte County
Amity Woods Nature Parks Trail is 0.9 miles long and is on Missouri Highway 152 & N. Amity Road.
Interurban Trail is 0.5 miles long, starting at the cul-de-sac of NW St. Joe Boulevard to NW Woodland Drive in Riverside. It connects to the Linear Trail.
Jumping Branch Trail is 0.5 miles long, from NW 50th Street to Renner Brenner Park.
Linear Trail is 1.3 miles long, running along NW Platte Drive in Riverside.
Missouri Riverfront Trail is 4.8 miles long and is accessed at the West Trailhead off of 9 Highway West, which is the second left after North Mattox Road.
KANSAS BIKE TRAILS
→ Wyandotte County
Wyandotte County Lake Park has a 19-mile-long trail. The trail starts at 9100 Leavenworth Road in Kansas City, Kansas.
The Armourdale Levee trail at 2018 Kansas Ave. in KCK is over 1 mile long. You can get to the trail at Kansas Avenue Bridge and South 12th Street and Levee Road.
→ Johnson County
Coffee Creek Streamway Park in Olathe includes a trail that’s about 3.4 miles long.
Indian Creek Trail in Overland Park is 10 miles long, starting near Foxhill South Park.
Mill Creek Streamway Park in Shawnee has about 17 miles of bike trails.
Kill Creek Park in Olathe has more than 12 miles of bike trails.
Turkey Creek Streamway trail in Mission is over 3.5 miles long.
Gary L. Haller Trail in Shawnee spans over 13 miles. It’s accessible through Mill Creek Streamway Park.
