Where to buy king cakes throughout the 2022 Mardi Gras season in Northeast Louisiana

·3 min read

Now that the new year has rolled around, it's time for the Mardi Gras season to commence — starting with king cake.

The classic Mardi Gras dessert, which features a sweet dough coated in glaze and sprinkles — and a hidden plastic baby inside — makes its way to local bakeries and shops each January. The cakes are made for the community throughout Mardi Gras season until Mardi Gras day, which occurs this year on Tuesday, March 1.

To find a cake this season, here are some local shops across Northeast Louisiana to check out:

Caster and Chicory operates as a food truck for most of the year, but during Carnival, the beignet and coffee eatery operates a bake shop for king cakes at 405 Natchitoches St., Antique Alley, West Monroe.
