Here’s where you can buy a real Christmas tree in SLO County
Now that Thanksgiving is past, it’s time to trade in the sweet scent of pumpkin pie for the refreshing smell of pine needles.
San Luis Obispo County has numerous Christmas tree lots and farms, so it may be unclear where to start.
That’s where our handy guide comes in. Here are some of the local places you can buy a real, live Christmas tree to deck your halls this holiday season.
Agape Christmas Trees
What: A number of pre-cut trees are available for sale at the Atascadero tree lot.

Brookshire Farms
What: Brookshire Farms features fresh trees grown on the owners’ Oregon property. They travel north each year to select and cut the best Christmas trees for sale, according to the website.
Varieties available include grand firs, Douglas firs, noble firs, Nordmann firs and silver tips.
The business also sells wreaths, garlands, mini trees and even wooden creatures to help brighten up your home. Sweet treats are also available for those shopping at one of Brookshire Farms’ two lots.

What is available: Fresh-cut Christmas trees are available for sale, as well as seasonal gifts.
Hidden Springs Tree Farm
What: This is one of the few locations in San Luis Obispo County that allows you to cut down your own tree. The owners of Hidden Springs Tree Farm grow trees on their Atascadero property and import pre-cut trees from areas outside the Central Coast.
According to the website, the tree farm grows about nine different varieties of Christmas trees on the property and routinely experiments with different types of trees that do well in the climate. Popular varieties include the Douglas fir, Monterey pine and blue spruce.
Guests are provided with saws when they arrive to cut down their trees.
Special holiday treats such as hot apple cider and chestnuts are available during the season.

Holloway’s Christmas Trees
What: The popular Nipomo Christmas tree farm lets customers cut down their own trees, and there’s a large number of pre-cut trees on hand as well.
According to the website, Holloway’s sells trees ranging from 2 feet to 12 feet tall, in varieties such as Monterey pine, Fraser fir, noble fir, grand fir and balsam fir. Wreaths are also available for sale, as well as crafts and seasonal gifts at Santa’s Store.
This year, Holloway’s is offering curbside pickups.

Hopper Family Christmas Tree Lots
What: The two Hopper Family Christmas Tree Lots sell a variety of pre-cut trees in a range of sizes, with the option of adding flocking or flame retardant. Tree stands are also available to buy, as well as living trees.
Free popcorn, coffee and cider are also available to customers.
Santa Claus will stop by both lots on specific dates and times; call for details.

Jack Creek Farms
What: Jack Creek Farms is selling cut-your-own Christmas trees for the first time this year. The farm exclusively offers Monterey Pine, ranging in size of from shorter than 5 feet to 9 feet. Prices range between $39.99 and $79.99.
Flocking, shaking and netting services are not available.
