Here’s where, how to celebrate Lunar New Year around Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Saturday is Lunar New Year. If you want to celebrate, there are definitely ways to do that in Portland. Here are a few.

Owners Penny Nguyen and Boun Saribout of Delicious Donuts teamed up with cartoonist Mike Bennett to create a box noting the upcoming Year of the Dragon.

At the Southeast Portland event space Kolectivo, a modern Lunar New Year celebration for the whole family on Saturday will include games for kids and adults plus food and drinks from several Asian American Pacific Islander vendors. That includes Heyday, known for their donuts. The event runs from 3-7 p.m. and is free, though donations are appreciated.

The Paper Bridge is a new restaurant in Southeast Portland that focuses on Northern Vietnamese cuisine. Quynh Nguyen and her husband, Chef Carlo Reinardy, offer a special 5-course men for dinner on Saturday. Reservations are required.

Himalayan Dumplings will offer ceremonial Tibetan cookies known as khapsae, which will be given away at the cafe in Beaverton.
