Where to celebrate Mardi Gras in the DMV

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Carnival is here, and with it comes Mardi Gras. It’s a time to celebrate and eat fatty foods in preparation for Lent.

When is Mardi Gras?

Here are some Mardi Gras celebrations going on around the DMV:

WASHINGTON

  • Mardi Gras Parade at the Wharf – 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., February 10

    • The Wharf will be celebrating Mardi Gras with a parade, complete with a dance party, live music on District Pier, and a fireworks finale.

  • Mardi Gras at Dauphine’s – 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., February 10

    • Enjoy a night of food, drinks, and fun at Dauphine’s, a New Orleans-inspired restaurant in DC. Tickets start at 125$ per person and include access to an open bar, food, and live entertainment.

  • Due South Mardi Gras Celebration – 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., February 13

    • Due South, a Southern bar and restaurant in Navy Yard will be celebrating Mardi Gras with an evening celebration including an all-you-can-eat Cajun buffet, king cake, face painting, live music, and one complimentary beer with your ticket.

    • Tickets are 40$ per person or 45$ at the door.

MARYLAND

  • Mardi Gras Bash at Brewer’s Alley – 9:00 p.m., February 10 to 1:00 a.m., February 11

    • Brewer’s Alley is a bar and restaurant in Frederick. They will be celebrating Mardi Gras with food, music, and special cocktails.

  • Trad Jazz Mardi Gras Bash featuring Orleans Express – 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., February 18

    • The Potomac River Jazz Club will be celebrating Mardi Gras at Rosensteel Hall in Silver Spring with a jazz party featuring Orleans Express. Tickets are $22.50 (free for students with ID.) Musicians are encouraged to bring their instruments for an open jam session at the end of the performance.

  • Mardi Gras at Showroom – Sunday, February 4 to Friday, February 9

    • Showroom restaurant in Frederick will be celebrating Mardi Gras all week long with beads, po’boys, king cake, and more.

National Cherry Blossom Festival announces dates for events in DMV

VIRGINIA

  • Mardi Gras Masquerade Party at LostBoy Cider – 9:00 p.m. to Midnight February 9

    • LostBoy Cider in Alexandira invites you to a masquerade party in honor of Mardi Gras. The party will feature live Dixieland music and a special French Quarter-inspired Cider. Tickets are $25 and include one 12oz drink.

  • Mardi Gras After Party at Shipgarten – 8:00 p.m. February 9 to 2:00 a.m. February 10

    • Shipgarten is an outdoor venue featuring four food and drink concepts operating out of shipping containers in Mclean. Shipgarten will be celebrating Mardi Gras with a night of live music, decorations, and a New Orleans-inspired atmosphere. Visitors are invited to dress up in Mardis Gras attire. Entry is free.
