Where to get a COVID-19 vaccine or booster in Marion, Polk counties

Oregon officials are imploring the public to get vaccinated and boosted as COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, driven by the more contagious omicron variant, surge across the nation.

The state, along with the rest of the country, has seen an increase in breakthrough cases, but health officials are still urging the public to get the vaccine, contending the vast majority of hospitalizations and deaths still involve unvaccinated individuals.

Breakthrough cases are instances where a person tests positive for COVID-19 at least 14 days after completing a vaccine series.

Eligibility expanded: Booster shots now available to more Marion, Polk residents

All Oregonians older than 12 are eligible to get the vaccine. The vaccine is free. People ages 12 to 17 must get the Pfizer vaccine and those younger than 14 need a parent or guardian to sign a parental consent.

The CDC recommends everyone age 16 and older get a booster six months after their second dose of a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine and two months after a Johnson & Johnson vaccine dose.
