Where COVID cases stand in 17 mid-Michigan school districts to start 2022

Schools across Michigan welcomed students back from the holiday break this month amid a statewide surge in COVID-19 cases.
Classes resumed in most districts as schools battled with growing numbers of sick students and teachers, exacerbating staff shortages.

Some districts have seen falling attendance rates as a result, including East Lansing, where nearly half of the student body at East Lansing High School was absent for part of the first week back.
Under an order from the state health department last fall, all public districts must report COVID-19 cases online. Here's how many cases have been reported so far in the 2021-22 school year by 17 Greater Lansing districts as of Jan. 24, 2022:
Lansing School District: 870 cases
Holt Public Schools: 603 cases
Grand Ledge Public Schools: 648 probable and confirmed cases
Okemos Public Schools: 500 cases
East Lansing Public Schools: 389 cases
DeWitt Public Schools: 413 cases
St. Johns Public Schools: 244 cases
Haslett Public Schools: 283 cases
Charlotte Public Schools: 360 cases
Eaton Rapids Public Schools: 176 cases
Williamston Community Schools: 216 cases
Ovid-Elsie Area Schools: 257 cases
Stockbridge Community Schools: 268 cases
Leslie Public Schools: 247 cases
Potterville Public Schools: 176 cases
Dansville Area Schools: 105 cases
Webberville Community Schools: 75 cases
Mason Public Schools and Waverly Community Schools did not respond to requests confirming the total confirmed positive cases in their districts.
