Where in CT can you watch St. Patrick’s Day parades?

St. Patrick’s Day is March 17 but the green wave begins earlier and ends later in Connecticut. From March 4 to 25, several cities and towns in the state are holding parades. Bagpipes, Irish dancers, grand marshals, school groups, shamrocks, dogs wearing hats — everything more green than a bank vault — celebrate the annual salute to Irish culture.

Here is a list of parades.

March 4

Stamford’s 28th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, presented by the Irish-American Cultural Society of Stamford, will be March 4. Marchers will step off at 2 p.m. at Columbus Park in downtown Stamford, proceed along Main Street, and then up Bedford Street, ending at Latham Park. Grand marshal is Stamford police Officer Patrick Loughran, a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. stamfordstpatricksdayparade.com

March 5

Norwich’s St. Patrick’s Parade and Festival is March 5 starting at 1 p.m. The route is Main Street to Franklin Street to Willow Street to Chestnut Street to Broadway and back to Main Street. Deanna Rhodes, the city’s Director of Planning and Neighborhood Services, is the grand marshal. Before the parade, there will be kids’ activities starting at noon. gonorwichct.com/st-pats-parade

March 11

The 2023 Greater Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade, 51st anniversary edition, presented by the Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee, will be held March 11. It will step off at the State Capitol at 11 a.m. Marchers will proceed on Capitol Avenue to Main Street, make a left, to Asylum Street, make a left, to Ford Street, make a left, and end at Trinity Street in front of the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Arch. Milford Saint Patrick’s Day Parade 2023 is March 11, stepping off at 1 p.m. at Wasson Field Parking Lot on West Main Street. The 45-minute route proceeds to the North Broad Street Gazebo. City Constable Linda Hardiman is grand marshal. mspdparade@gmail.com.

The 2023 Norwalk St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held March 11. Marchers will step off from Veteran’s Park and proceed through South Norwalk starting at 11 am. The grand marshal is Brendan Collins, co-founder of the Norwalk Police Emerald Society. facebook.com/NorwalkPoliceEmeraldSociety.

March 12

The 2023 St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New London, themed “Everyone Is Irish for a Day,” will be March 12, from 1 to 2 p.m. The parade steps off at the corner of Bank and Tilley streets. Marchers will proceed north on Bank Street, turn left up State Street and then onto Washington Street. downtownnewlondonassociation.com/event/st-patricks-2023.

The 2023 edition of the Greater New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade, which was founded in 1842, will be March 12, starting at 1:30 p.m. It steps off at Chapel Street and Sherman Avenue, proceeds east on Chapel to Church Streets, turns left and proceeds to Elm Street, then turns right and ends at Elm and Orange streets. The reviewing stand is on Church Street. Joanne Conlan is grand marshal. A Family Fun Zone, with a petting zoo, music, tattoos, cornhole, book giveaways and other activities, will be on Elm Street betweeen Church and Temple streets, in front of the library. stpatricksdayparade.org.

March 17

The Greater Bridgeport St. Patrick’s Day Celebration will be March 17, stepping off at noon at the Burroughs Community Center at Fairfield Avenue and Ellsworth Street. The route travels down Fairfield Avenue, ending at The Castle Black Rock Irish Pub & Restaurant at Fairfield and Courtland avenues. Grand Marshal is Gerry Reidy. An Aer Lingus raffle will be held at The Castle at 2 p.m. stpatricksdaybridgeport.com.

March 19

The 26th annual Danbury St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be March 19, stepping off at 2 p.m. at St. Peter Church on Main Street. It will turn onto West Street, continue up Lake Avenue, and end at the Greater Danbury Irish Cultural Center at 6 Lake Ave., where there will be live music, Irish dancing, food and drink. facebook.com/danburystpatricksdayparade.

Greenwich’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be on March 19, stepping off at 2 p.m. at Greenwich town hall. It will proceed up Field Point Road then down Greenwich Avenue and end at the Island Beach parking lot. The 18th annual Mystic Irish Parade will be March 19. Stepoff is at 1 p.m. at Mystic Seaport, and the parade proceeds toward downtown, where it ends. Grand marshal is philanthropist Phil Pavone. mysticirishparade.org.

March 25

Essex Go Bragh, the annual Irish parade, will be March 25, stepping off at 11 a.m. from Essex Town Hall. It will proceed to Ferry Street, turning up Pratt Street and ending at Cross Street.
