Where does your high school rank? Major publication lists Okemos among tops in Michigan
OKEMOS — Several area high schools received strong rankings from a national publication this week, including Okemos, which placed in the top 20 in the state.
The “U.S. News & World Report” released its rankings Tuesday of the best high schools in the region, based on criteria like graduation rates, college readiness and state assessment proficiency.
Known as the global authority in education rankings, U.S. News & World Report evaluated nearly 18,000 public high schools at the national, state and local level for its 2023-24 Best High Schools rankings.
More than 30 high schools appeared in the category of "Best High Schools in the Lansing, MI area." Their rankings, and 1,166 schools in 699 districts in the state also are available.
Okemos topped the local rankings, placing 14th in Michigan and 535th in the nation, the publication said. International Academy of Macomb in Clinton Township ranked first in Michigan and 11th nationally.
