It’s time again for the excitement of gathering colored eggs filled with candy and gifts, as Somerset County prepares to celebrate springtime and the Easter season.

Here’s a listing of some of the Easter egg hunts planned this year in Somerset County. Information about any other community egg hunts not shown here can be sent to news@dailyamerican.com and they will be added to the online listing.

April 1

Windber

The Windber Area Visioning Experience, or WAVE, is sponsoring an Easter egg hunt for children up to age 12 at 10 a.m. in Miners’ Park.

Johnstown

Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership is hosting “Bunny Hop Around the Park” from noon to 1 p.m. at Central Park in downtown Johnstown. Children under 10 years of age are invited to come and search for candy filled eggs. Friedens

An Easter egg hunt for children ages 1-12 is being held at 2 p.m. at the Listie Grove, 404 Village Road, Friedens. The event is sponsored by the Listie Volunteer Fire Co., Listie Grace Brethren Church and Listie Catering Service.

Meyersdale

In Meyersdale, an Easter egg hunt is taking place at 11 a.m. April 1 at the Paul E. Fuller Playground. The day’s activities include a toddler hay crawl.

Meyersdale Moose Lodge No. 76 is hosting its lodge Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m. at Maple Valley Park. If there is inclement weather, the egg hunt will be moved to the Moose Lodge, 362 Main St.

Boswell

A “Free Community Easter Celebration” will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at New Beginnings Outreach Center Church. The day’s activities include a presentation on the true meaning of Easter, as well as crafts, games, an egg hunt with prizes and lots of candy and a luncheon for ages 0-12, sponsored by the Boswell Area Churches. The event will be held rain or shine. The church is located at 7398 Somerset Pike, Boswell, 1 mile north of Jennerstown on the right. For more information, contact the church at 814-629-5001.

Berlin

Beachdale Church of the Brethren is hosting an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. at the church, 803 Owl Hollow Road. Activities planned in addition to the egg hunt are photos with the Easter bunny, face painting, crafts, games, food and prizes. More information is posted at the church's Facebook page.

Windber

Life Church, 617 Sunny Drive, Windber, is hosting an Easter Egg Drop at 2 p.m. for children aged 12 and under. Prize eggs. Weather updates will be posted on the Facebook page. More information is available at 814-467-8707.

Somerset

Community Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. at Georgian Place, sponsored by New Hope Baptist Church. More than 7,000 eggs available for children ages 0-10 to find. Snacks are to be provided after the hunt. More information is available at facebook.com/events/1123107045024235/?ref=newsfeed

House of Prayer is hosting a community Easter egg hunt at 10:30 a.m. at the church, 645 S. Columbia Ave. in Somerset. The event is free and takes place rain or shine. More information is available at facebook.com/events/161725143367847/

A community Easter egg hunt also takes place at 2 p.m. at Centennial United Methodist Church, 426 Northfork Road in Johnstown.

Kingwood

The Kingwood Independent Order of Odd Fellows is hosting an Easter egg hunt for children ages 1-10 at 2 p.m. at the Kingwood picnic grounds.

Salisbury

The Salisbury Church of the Brethren is hosting a community Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m. at the church, 146 Union St.
