Weekend weather outlook

It's looking to be a pretty nice weekend, sunny and not too terribly hot, with temps topping out at maybe 90. Can you say beach weather?

With fall festival season yet to kick in, your entertainment options are still music-heavy. But at least there's a lot of variety, with a slew of touring acts as well as a range of local music.

Wilmington rapper Fuzz Jackson turns 50 this year, and it turns out he was born the same year that hip-hop was created in New York. FuzzJax, as he's known, will celebrate at Waterline Brewing on Friday with an all-star lineup of local hip-hop artists.

Over at Thalian Hall, Big Dawg Productions continues its run of the comedic play "The Dog Logs" (see review), in which actors give voice to man's best friend, and on the main stage Opera House Theatre Co. opens classic musical "Man of La Mancha."

The Dish with Port City Foodies

Lots of food news this week, including a story from StarNews reporter Allison Ballard about a competition to win a restaurant in the Pender County town of Burgaw. The lucky winner will get a $1 million budget to get started.

Wilmington choreographer Kevin Lee-y Green got his work in front of a huge audience this month when a dance he created for Wilmington-shot Amazon Prime series "The Summer I Turned Pretty" went viral on TikTok, with many fans of the show posting their own versions of his routine. The season two finale of the teen drama, which shot in the area last year, is Friday.
