Where to find free meals for kids this summer
CHILLICOTHE— With kids out of school for the summer, families are tasked with providing more meals to their children. This can lead to financial hardships, luckily there are multiple organizations in Ross County committed to making sure students are fed throughout the summer.
The Chillicothe City School district will have three vehicles, including Babe the Big Blue Lunch Bus, on the roads during the week delivering meals to students 18 and younger. The schedule for Chillicothe City School district is as follows:
10:45 a.m. — Strawser Park, Cooks Mobile Park, Chillicothe football field parking lot
11:10 a.m. — Mt Logan Learning Center, Blair Mobile Park, Ross County Board of DD
11:45 a.m. — Manor Park, Lifting Up Jesus Church
12:10 p.m. — Lincoln Park, Bowman Park
12:35 p.m. — Sherman Park, Poland Park
12:40 p.m. — North Branch Library
1:15 p.m. —Old Tiffin School from parking lot, Main Library, Chillicothe City Pool
All meals must be consumed on-site with each student receiving only one free meal per day.
Ross County Community Action will also be providing free lunches during the week for kids 18 and under. They will be serving from June 6 to July 29. The Ross County Community Action Schedule is as follows:
11 a.m.- Overbrook Apartments, Scioto Woods
11:15 a.m.- Adena Elementary, Huntington Elementary, Paint Valley Elementary, Southeastern Elementary, Unioto High School, Zane Trace Elementary
11:30 a.m.- Cross creek Apartments, Overlook Apartments
12 p.m.- Gleason Mobile Home Park, Kenowa Village, Paint Creek Station, Tiffin Estates, Zane Village
12:15 p.m.- Adelphia Park, Bainbridge Elementary, Carousel Court
12:30 p.m.- Frankfort Library, Westland Estates
1 p.m.- Kingston Library, Richmondale Library
Children must consume meals on site. Registration is not required but Community Action asks that you preregister to help with meal preparation and planning, you can redister at surveymonkey.com/r/rosssummerfood
