Where to find holiday-themed treats in Cleveland County

As Christmas Day draws near, families are putting the finishing touches on their menus and hitting the stores to get the ingredients for the big day.

What to serve your guests can be overwhelming, however. Everything from food allergies to picky eaters can put you in a bind. Local bakers and shops have created Christmas themed treats for the holiday season to take the load off those who will be manning the kitchen Christmas Day.

Whether you have a small or large crowd, bakeries in Cleveland County have whipped up festive treats to serve as dessert, an appetizer or a midnight snack.

Sweet Caroline's

Holiday treats: mini cheesecakes topped with apple cinnamon, pumpkin and apple pies and cookie boxes.

Stephanie Dover operates her bakery out of her home in Kings Mountain and specializes in baking “dream cakes” for her clients. She offers an assortment of treats and has created an array of desserts for the holiday season too.

“This time of year brings you back to family,” said Dover. “Especially for older people, it brings you back together. Remember when your grandma used to bake things? This is a time to think back on those days and enjoy time with your family now.”

Bakeology

Where: 131 E. College Ave., Boiling Springs

What: peppermint and white chocolate macaroons, eggnog ice cream and shakes and peppermint bark moose tracks.

Bakeology uses inspiration from their customers to create various sweets. Their creativity has led them to make goodies that are hard to find elsewhere, including a Little Debbie Christmas Tree spread that pairs well with vanilla wafers.

Mindy Mullinax said it is important to have an assortment of goodies on hand to get the celebration of the season going.

“We are just trying to bring in the Christmas spirit like everyone else,” said Mullinax.

Uptown Sweets and Treats

Where: 221 S. Lafayette St., Shelby

Owner Ashley Bailey has everything from olive oil to cupcakes. This year, Bailey offers her gourmet popcorn in white chocolate cranberry pretzel, Christmas blend and peppermint.

“It’s important to do something to get people in here,” said Bailey. “It’s a fun way to add it in their stocking as a sweet treat. It’s fun to do little varieties during Christmas time that you don’t normally do during other times of the year.”
