Update: The Jonas Brothers appeared Thursday night on TV, not on stage, with ABC’s NFL Draft commentators just to chat.

Among the biggest celebrities expected at the NFL Draft — as of Thursday — are the Jonas Brothers, who announced an “appearance” at the event earlier this week.

“We can’t wait to celebrate the NFL Draft in Kansas City. See you there,” the brothers said in a video clip shown Monday on “Good Morning America.”

And suddenly, the NFL Draft became a Jonas Brothers event for their fans, hundreds of whom posted their excitement on social media.

What football?

“The Jonas Brothers are coming to Kansas City!!!!!! Couldn’t be more excited for the draft! Let’s GOOOOOO,” Bay Boy Specialty Sandwiches in Kansas City tweeted.

In the hours leading up to the 7 p.m. opening of the draft Thursday, Jonas fans were burnin’ up social media, searching for clues of the band’s whereabouts in Kansas City.

Sports anchor Lainey Gerber from KSNT in Topeka really wanted to know.

“My first priority as a reporter at the NFL Draft is to find out when the Jonas Brothers will be out and what the hell they’re doing,” Gerber tweeted Thursday morning.

“Let me know when you find out because that is the sole reason i am going to the draft LOL,” one of her followers responded.

Fans were confused about whether the brothers were actually coming to Kansas City or appearing via satellite.

(Or maybe they’ll do one of those hologram moments?)

“Hi @Jonasbrothers when and where will you be playing in KC??? Help a girl out,” a fan named Alexis tweeted at the brothers Thursday afternoon.

“Wow! Didn’t know they were coming to Kansas City for the NFL DRAFT. HOPE THEY PURCHASE SOME CHIEFS GEAR,” an admirer on Facebook wrote.

ABC said earlier this week that the brothers would stop by to visit and sing a song during the network’s draft broadcast Thursday night. ABC, ESPN and the NFL Network are covering the three-day event outside Union Station.

ABC said the band would “share their unreleased song ‘Celebrate’ during the Draft programming.”

Share as in a video?

Share in a live performance?

That still remained unclear Thursday afternoon.

“We want the Jo Bros @ Town Pavilion on 1111 Main KC,” the office tower’s Twitter account tweeted Thursday afternoon. “Come see the heart of downtown from the iconic building & take a peek at the skyline from the 36th floor!!!.

“Jump on the street car and head to Union Station for the NFL Draft!”

The New Jersey brothers are big sports fans, lifelong Yankees fans. Last year they performed during the nationally televised halftime show of the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game on Thanksgiving Day.

Too bad the brothers have a concert in Baltimore on Friday. They could have stayed over and headed to Worlds of Fun to ride the Viking Voyager.

When Nick Jonas hosted “Saturday Night Live” two years ago, he joined Kansas City native Heidi Gardner and other cast members for a skit based on the log flume ride here in Kansas City.
