'Where Lyfe Cuts' premieres at The Edge

"Where Lyfe Cuts", a new original work by Lubbock native Stephanie Johnson, will premiere at The Edge Theatre, 4228 Boston Ave., at 7:30 p.m. June 17.

Directed by Johnson and produced by Nick Muniz, the play examines what happens when mental health goes unrecognized, unaddressed, and ignored.

Show dates are 7:30 p.m. June 17-18 and 24-25, with Sunday matinees at 2:30 p.m. on June 19 and 26.

“Love turns to hurt, trust turns to dust, faith gives way to doubt Where Lyfe Cuts,” says Johnson about her new play.

"Where Lyfe Cuts" takes a look at the effect and toll undiagnosed mental illness takes on family relationships and dynamics within the African American community.

Cast in the production include: Ashun Anderson, KeAsia Bogus, Roy Perkins III, Cayden I. Berrillo, Talisa Edwards, George Stern, Gideon Simiyu, Constance D. B. Berrillo, Sean Allen Jones, Ralia Cortinas and Seth Shuey.
