Where is Mayfield, Kentucky? What to know about the town devastated by weekend tornadoes

Late Friday and in the early hours Saturday morning, at least four tornadoes touched down in Kentucky, leveling communities, causing at least 74 confirmed deaths and untold destruction.

More than 100 Kentuckians are unaccounted for, as of Monday morning.

The largest tornado leveled much of Mayfield in Graves County, also causing death and destruction in Dawson Springs and Bremen, among other communities.

Where is Mayfield, Kentucky?

Mayfield is a small town and county seat of Graves County, located in the southwest corner of the state. It's close to larger Kentucky towns Murray to the east and Paducah to the north.

It's 324 miles southwest of Cincinnati and 134 miles northwest of Nashville. Mayfield is home to just over 10,000 people, according to 2020 census records.
