Where are they now? Bloomington area cross country runners kicking off college seasons

There's a large flock of runners from Monroe County running men's and women's cross country at the collegiate level this fall. Here's a look as they leave the starting line on a new season:

Liam Arthur (North), Indianapolis

Freshman was the No. 8 runner for the Greyhounds in the McNichols Invitational at Terre Haute, running a 28:01.3 in his first 8K of the season.

John Asplund (South), Franklin

Sophomore was Franklin's top runner last year and picked up where he left off, finishing 115th to lead the Griz in the McNichols Invitational at Terre Haute in 26:53.9. He was the No. 5 non-Division I runner to finish. Asplund's first race of the year was a 6K at Hanover, and he finished second in 19:48.7. Asplund was 10th in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference race and 73rd in the Great Lakes Regional Meet at the end of last year.

Mackenzie Carver (North), Clarion

Junior has been the No. 2 runner for the NCAA Division II Golden Eagles in their first two races of the season. She posted a 20:03.6 for 14th in the 5K Father Bede Invitational and a 25:09.10 for 19th at the Robert Morris Invitational 6.2K event. Clarion was fourth in both meets, which also included DI runners.

Annalyssa Crain (Edgewood), Illinois

Sophomore was one of the Illini's best last season and should be again this year. She has yet to race, however, skipping the first two events of the season. Illinois' next race is Sept. 30 at Missouri. Last year, she was 17th at the Big Ten Championships with a time of 21:11.0 and the first Illini to finish. She was 44th at the NCAA Regional.

Jack Gillard (South), Indiana

Junior ran in three meets last year for the Hoosiers, with his best 8K time of 28:05 coming in a 16th place finish in the Hoosier Invitational.

Elliott Gough (Edgewood), Franklin

Sophomore was a top-three finisher for the Grizzlies last year and was Franklin's No. 3 runner at the McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, taking 103rd in 28:14.2. In the season opener, Gough was 18th in 21:10.6 for the 6K at Hanover.

Austin Haskett (Edgewood), Indiana

Moved into the top seven last year for the Hoosiers. Ran a 31:19.4 in the 10K at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional for a personal record and also placed 70th. He also placed 24th in the Big 10 Championships with a time of 25:34.2. Haskett opened this year with a 25:26.2 in the 8K Coaching Tree Invite.

Olivia Kaiser (North), Western Colorado

Redshirt freshman was the No. 7 finisher in the season opening Mountaineer/Cowboy Invite 5K race, going 19:49.1 for 14th overall.

Jordan Monson (South), Saint Louis

Sophomore was 16th in the Billikens Invitational 5K in 20:40.9, ninth on her team. She had a 20:48.9 in the 5K opener at Missouri. Monson, who runs the 800 in track, ran in two cross country meets last year, with her best 6K performance of 24:33.3 coming at the Bradley Pink Classic.

Mason Moore (South), Southern Indiana

Sophomore nabbed Academic All-GLVC honors last year and competed in three meets with a season-best seventh place finish in the Stegemoller Classic with a 20:21.50 for the 6K race. He finished 103rd in the GLVC Championships in 27:39.76

Eli Norrick (North), Southern Indiana

Former Cougar is a freshman on the men's team this season.

Anthony Richardson (Edgewood), Manchester

Freshman ran a 34:00.7 in his first college 8K at the Wittenberg Invitational. He also ran in Manchester's season opening Hokum Karem.

Ian Shaw (South), Purdue

Senior, who is a sophomore eligibility-wise for cross country, finished 28th in 19:35.5 in the 6K opener at Valparaiso. At the 8K McNichols Invitational at Terre Haute, Shaw was 56th in 25:50.9. Shaw was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and named Academic All-Big Ten last season.

Shelby Stegemoller (North), Hanover

Freshman was the No. 6 finisher for the Panthers in their first two events of the year. She had a 24:09.9 in the 5K Hanover Invite and then placed 13th in the Run with the Lions at Shelbyville.

Quinn Wilson (North), Florida State

Junior has not run in either of FSU's first two events this year. Last season, she went 25:03.9 in the 6K FSU Open and logged a time of 24:58.2 in the Open 6K at the FSU Pre-Nationals meet.

Jacob Wisniewski (South), Southern Indiana

Senior competed in two meets last season, finishing 65th in the GLVC Championships 8K race in 26:14.12. His season best 26:09.28.
