Where the Patriots would pick in the 2022 NFL draft if the season ended today

The New England Patriots are among the worst teams in the NFL when it comes to their record. They may have only narrowly lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Dallas Cowboys, among the best teams in the NFL.

Still, the Patriots are 2-4 after Week 6. They are currently slated to have the No. 7 overall pick, if the season ended today.

The only consolation is that they’re second in the division, because the AFC East has been putrid. The New York Jets are 1-4 and the Miami Dolphins are 1-5. But when it comes to draft order, that’s actually not helpful. Both the Dolphins and Jets have picks above New England.

Here’s a look at the top of the draft order, per Tankathon.com.

  1. Detroit Lions (0-6)

  2. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-5)

  3. Philadelphia Eagles (via Miami Dolphins (1-5))

  4. Houston Texans (1-5)

  5. New York Giants (1-5)

  6. New York Jets (1-4)

  7. New England Patriots (2-4)

That’s not a spot where the Patriots are accustomed to drafting. Last week, the Patriots were slated to pick in the same spot, where Draft Wire’s Luke Easterling projected they’d take Clemson cornerback Andrew Booth Jr.
